"A 2003 survey by Radio Times found that Last of the Summer Wine was the programme readers most wanted to see canceled. The show received nearly 12,000 votes in the survey, which came out to be one-third of the total vote, and twice as many votes as the runner up in the poll, Heartbeat. Alan J. W. Bell responded that Radio Times has always been anti-Last of the Summer Wine and Roy Clarke said if people do not like the show"

Why did so many people want to see this show cancelled and why would someone be anti-Last of the Summer Wine? Basically what qualities do people find so unappealing? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.20.233.209 (talkcontribs) 02:12, 30 June 2008

We can't answer that question without speculating, as it wasn't included in the citation. Wikipedia isn't the place for speculation Ged UK (talk) 06:47, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
I am sure that Radio Times fixed this survey (if it existed at all). They have (and so are the BBC) never liked the Last of the Summer Wine for reasons unknown. It is my personal favourite programme. However as the user above said, we cannot give a reason why that is the case without speculating. UNI|SOUTH 13:01, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
And it's just as well we don't put comments like that in the article and get sued! Ged UK (talk) 14:52, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Sallis & Thornton filming Outdoor scenes

This appears in the article -

Beginning with the 29th series, Frank Thornton and Peter Sallis no longer appear in outdoor scenes because of the cost of insuring actors over the age of 80. Thornton and Sallis, both 87, will only film scenes indoors while younger actors film the outdoor scenes.

Given that there's no series mentioned in the article & the fact that S29 is currently broadcasting and both Sallis and Thornton still make appearances on location in these episodes, should this be ammended to "beginning with the 30th series", or just reword it to say something like "In an article published in May 2008, The Times reported that in future series, Frank Thornton....etc". You may be right. I don't think we should mention a "30th series" unless we can find something to directly confirming a 30th series will be filmed. Future series sounds good though. Redfarmer (talk) 16:35, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
'Potential future series' might be better? Ged (talk) 16:36, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
The Website 'Clappers Ltd', which organises audience bookings for TV shows has a listing for LotSW in November 2008 & January 2009 (it's at these showings that they record the laughter tracks), so that certainly indicates that a series is filming soon. I'd guess that the best thing would be to wait until the end of this series, and if Russ Abbott hasn't appeared, then the article featuring his casting will work as a source.Paul 1978 (talk) 01:37, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Just found a source, Juliette Kaplan (Pearl) has a website (http://juliettekaplan.com), and in the news section she confirms that filming started in June, for the next series to be broadcast in 2009. http://juliettekaplan.com/news.php Paul 1978 (talk) 01:41, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

They are filming a new series in Holmfirth, they are using my cottage in the filming —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.136.38.54 (talk) 20:05, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, tell someone from a newspaper or tv programme to interview you and we'll be able to use you as a source. Redfarmer (talk) 05:13, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Can you surgest a paper that stands the best chance of being printed —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.44.30.122 (talk) 11:58, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
