a (images are tagged and non-free content have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:
  • "Boys Town Sports Hall of Fame" isn't an infobox highlight per Wikipedia:WikiProject Baseball/Player style advice.
    • Removed.
  • Those minor league teams don't go in the infobox. Neither do the stats or debuts.
    • According to the style advice, it applies for all post-integration era players – didn't the 'integration era' in baseball start in 1947 with Jackie Robinson? The infobox would look pretty empty otherwise...
      • The style guide just says that because post-integration Negro leagues aren't included. The Negro leagues still existed after Jackie Robinson debuted in 1947 but they are not included in the infobox, only pre-integration Negro leagues are included. However, WikiProject guidelines aren't GA criteria, so fair enough, they can stay in the infobox. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 00:38, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Cite his full name in the body.
    • I think it's in the Ancestry ref.
  • That ref doesn't go in the lead.
    • Removed.
  • "was known for going from living at Boys Town to playing professional baseball" What's special about that? Everyone lives somewhere.
    • Ok, I see why it is special now. The lead should be expanded a little to explain though, maybe link "Father Flanagan's Boys' Home" or something.
      • Changed the lead a little.
  • "was known for going from living at Boys Town to playing professional baseball" it should say "Boys Town, Nebraska" also.
    • Added.
  • "he went to live at Father Flanagan's Boys' Home in March 1929." change to "he went to live at Father Flanagan's Boys' Home in Boys Town, Nebraska in March 1929."
    • Changed.
  • "with his "honesty, integrity, and fairness" being a "byword" to the community" Is there a link for byword? I'm not sure what this is trying to say.
    • Reworded.
  • "relied on an overhand fastball" link fastball.
    • Linked.
  • "threw sidearm curves" link both Sidearm (baseball) and Curveball. I know that will cause two links to be back to back but I think it's okay here.
    • Linked.
  • "fanned four of the eight batters" link fanned to strikeout.
    • Linked.
  • "hookball" is there a link for that? I'm not even sure what that is?
    • I assume the source is referring to curveball (at least, that's what Thesaurus.com says).
  • "spring training" link?
    • Linked.
  • "pitching 41 innings" link inning I guess
    • Linked.
  • "Junior American Legion's" link American Legion?
    • Linked.
  • "He was their first official police chief" is this the same thing as "police commissioner" from the early life section or something else?
    • I think it was something else. Should I do anything about it?
  • Could you add a ref for that note please?
    • Added.

I think that's everything. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 13:41, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • @WikiOriginal-9: BeanieFan11 (talk) 01:44, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    • Ref 12 has more details on his death that need added. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 01:59, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
      • @WikiOriginal-9: I still have a copy of ref 19, sent by a relative of Kennedy I was in contact with. It doesn't mention anything about police commissioner, only that he was "the first official Chief of Police of Boys Town, retiring after 38 years." As for his death, I could change it to something like "Kennedy died on March 4, 1995, at the age of 77, of pneumonia following a stroke." – I prefer not to include the car crash details though, as per requests from his family. Thoughts? BeanieFan11 (talk) 02:21, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
        • Did they say why they didn't want it included? It's not a BLP. Kennedy himself didn't request it. How do we know he wouldn't want it included anyway? (I mean passing away because of a car crash sounds "cooler" than just getting old and dying, so how do we know he wouldn't want it included?)
        • Also, who qualifies as family anyway? Can distant cousins "request" stuff on people's articles? If I was an article subject, I wouldn't want random family members trying to control my article.
