About the no log policy

[edit]

The article states "Lantern isn't a no logs VPN service, and so, it can be critiqued that it isn't an effective anti-censorship tool.[15]". There are 2 problems here :

  1. the reference link directs to a page from the website https://www.safetydetectives.com/ where you can't find any mention about lantern
  2. on its website Lantern claims they don't store connection log, browsing history, DNS queries and traffic destination or metadata. Same in their privacy policy.

So who should we believe? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jschambord (talkcontribs) 13:21, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Adam Fisk from Lantern here. This page references an older version of our privacy policy. As we discuss in our privacy policy, we never log any personally identifiable information anywhere. The current section is highly misleading on this score.
Also, when this says Lantern "isn't an effective anti-censorship tool", I think the millions of Iranians and Russians who have started using Lantern just this year would disagree. Adamfisk (talk) 18:27, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Even if the logging is in place, it doesn't have too much to do with how effective the software is at circumventing censorship. WofWca (talk) 16:39, 16 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Closed-source now?

[edit]

Maybe I'm missing something, but it appears like since this commit the source code is no longer available, only binary distribution files. I think it needs to be more clearly reflected what exactly is going on. WofWca (talk) 16:34, 16 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
