Proposed mergers
[edit]@Empire AS, A Simple Human, and Tahaaleem: I propose to merge List of Lanka Premier League captains and List of Lanka Premier League umpires into Lanka Premier League. List of Lanka Premier League captains and List of Lanka Premier League umpires are two of many LPL related articles, templates and categories that have been unnecessarily created in the past few weeks. Their content could easily be included in Lanka Premier League or 2020 Lanka Premier League.--Obi2canibe (talk) 16:28, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
- Obi2canibe, Hi, hope you are fine during these unprecedented times, I wanted to ask, how are these articles superfluous? I mean you can see that List of Pakistan Super League captains and List of Indian Premier League captains have separate articles, can you please elucidate how these are unnecessary? Thank you. Tahaaleem Talk 18:09, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Obi2canibe: There is nothing in the Lanka Premier League or 2020 Lanka Premier League articles that have information on on umpires or captains. Before proposing merging you must see the contents of the articles. And also the above user have mentioned similar articles. Maybe you are not familiar with cricket articles. Human (talk) 19:04, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Tahaaleem and A Simple Human: WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS isn't an valid argument to keep articles. Each article must be judged separately. List of Indian Premier League captains is a substantive article and therefore warrants a separate article. List of Lanka Premier League captains and List of Lanka Premier League umpires are basically stubs. Their content can easily be accommodated in Lanka Premier League.--Obi2canibe (talk) 16:24, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Obi2canibe: Hi ! Those article which you mentioned to propose to be merged .That articles should not be merged because this article content is different and good information.Hope you will understand.Best Regards !(Fade258 (talk) 01:56, 14 December 2020 (UTC))
- Obi2canibe, don't agree with you.
many LPL related articles, templates and categories that have been unnecessarily created in the past few weeks.
About which content are you talking about? Can you provide with an example? Are you talking about categories, articles and templates created by project that were really necessary but before you they're nothing. Moreover, see List of Pakistan Super League umpires, List of Indian Premier League umpires & List of Bangladesh Premier League umpires. These are not merged but exist separately. If you say that those lists are longer than this, that is due to their big number of seasons. Whereas this league is in its inaugural season. Agreeing with Human's reply, I would say that you don't seem to be familiar with cricket articles. So, this wasn't a good suggestion to merge. Empire AS Talk! 05:32, 14 December 2020 (UTC)
- If anyone wants to bring the articles of Pakistan and India or any other articles listing captains and umpires up for AfD I'd probably support them being deleted too. Bottom line, pass the notability guideline or it doesn't belong. Maybe we should get rid of 2/3's of all articles on Wikipedia because they don't meet the requirements. Bring them up for AfD and let editors decide. All we can decide on is what is presented. If enough articles are deleted then maybe we can get some clarification and possibly a rules change. Until then, WP:N is the ruling guideline for notability and inclusion. All SNG's can be used to presume notability but they do not prove notability. I would also encourage you to look at WP:NOT to see what Wikipedia is not. As I stated, these are current Wikipedia guidelines and policies. They are not my express beliefs nor do they reflect my opinions. --ARoseWolf (Talk) 18:15, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- MERGE per FORK and TOOSOON. Commenting here since the AfD has now closed. GenQuest "scribble" 20:49, 28 January 2021 (UTC)

Indiscriminate statistics
[edit]A large amount of the content of this page seems to be made up of table of fairly indiscriminate statistics which are copied from CricInfo. Unless anyone cmes up with a rationale for keeping these here, I would propose removing them. If anyone wants to split them off into their own article then that might be appropriate, but, honestly, they're pretty boring even then. Blue Square Thing (talk) 14:19, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
- Bump to check if anyone wants to keep them. If not they'll almost all get removed within a short period of time. Blue Square Thing (talk) 08:23, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
- Done this now as in 2 months no one's raised an objection Blue Square Thing (talk) 08:47, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
