Equal prestige

Why this restriction? Borrowing takes place under unequal circumstances too.--JWB 23:52, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

"Phonological convergence of the palatal /l/ in Spanish and Quechua..." and "c and s-series consonants"

[edit]

Clarification is needed for both of these:

♦ "palatal /l/ in Spanish and Quechua. Northern variants of Ecuadorian Spanish and Quechua include the innovative /ž/ while southern variants of both languages maintain the /l̃/ pronunciation" -- Is "palatal /l/" meant to be /ʎ/? Is /ž/ supposed to indicate /ʒ/ or maybe [ʒ]? And what is /l̃/?

♦ "c and s-series consonants" very much needs some fleshing out for clarity. Barefoot through the chollas (talk) 16:29, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
