Dance

[edit]

Some person badaled page brazilian zouk (aka zouk-lamabada) and i don't know how to get it back....

Why is Lambada the forbidden dance? R@y 13:29, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My understanding is that it's a 'forbidden dance' in a similar sense to 'forbidden love', or homer simpson's 'forbidden donut'. There is no actual legal ordinance forbidding the dancing of lambada (unless you are in Iran?). --I 04:16, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Legend goes as this: The dance was always sensual from the very beginning and some movements were imported from maxixe, a dance of the 1920s that ended up forbidden on many places in Brazil. When looking for a good slogan for the movie Lambada it's likely the producers came through this history and decided on purpose for promotional menas to call it Lambada the Forbidden dance. As most myths, there's always a bit of truth mixed up with other facts. For more on the true forbidden dance try reading/translating http://cifrantiga3.blogspot.com/2006/02/maxixe-dana-proibida.html --Claudio Gomes 03:48, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I happen to read Portuguese and this article is eerily similar to what is written on this page: http://www.dancadesalao.com/agenda/index.cgi?x=lsthistorialambada. The difference being that, of course, here, it is in English and there in Portuguese. It appears that only a translation was made. The link can be found in the Portuguese article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Notconnectedtome (talkcontribs) 02:13, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I found the same article in english here: http://www.latinnet.co.uk/History/Lambada.htm. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.255.149.87 (talk) 17:54, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
