Update Necessary
[edit]To maintain quality on Wikipedia, this article either needs to be updated or deleted. In my opinion, it should have everything left the way it is but then add something about how the site is 100% different now, whereas it is no longer a CD exchange service. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.159.115.200 (talk) 22:53, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
Blocking of international users
[edit]I just added a little section under legal about the blocking of international users. All comments on the feedback site of lala.com have been removed and people have basically been robbed by lala.com. It's strange that no media outcry or something similar has happened. Lala.com blocks international users based on their IP address so users using a proxy server that is based in the US can still access their purchased songs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.230.242.102 (talk) 10:48, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Outdated
[edit]This article is way the hell outdated. The site has completely changed. ChunkyStyle (talk contribs) 00:14, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Trademark Issues
[edit]"LALA" is a registered trademark of another company, omnilala inc., for a number of audio-related products, including digital music servers that can stream MP3 files from playlists to portable players (registered USPTO as of December 2005). La la media inc. and "lala.com" came along afterwards, but they are trying to wrestle the trademark "LALA" from this musch smaller start-up using a gaggle of lawyers and trademark litigation. Until they succeed, and they might not, it isn't appropriate to associate the word "Lala" with la la media, inc. In fact, if one looks at la la media's very recent trademark filings (July 13, 2007), they have applied to register the mark "LA LA", not "LALA." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.91.210.139 (talk) 05:52, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Lala logo.gif
[edit]Image:Lala logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Z Foundation and 20% donation to artists
[edit]Has the 20% to artists ever been verified? I don't think this ever became reality. The referenced web page has always been there but I don't think this reflects actuality. If someone can verify this that would be great. Otherwise, I think this part should be deleted. Clubmarx (talk) 07:13, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
The 20% has not been verified, but it has been claimed by the site. As it was a significant part of the site's advertising campaign, and it continues to be a question mark and hot topic in the forums, I think the Z Foundation should remain on the site page. I have added a description of it with a disclaimer that it appears not to exist anymore.
- Thank you for removing the sham of Z foundation from the article! It never made the light of day. --Clubmarx (talk) 05:20, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
I disagree. The Z Foundation should be covered as part of this article. When a corporation or a group publicly states that a charitable foundation will be established to benefit a group and takes money from people with the understanding that part will go to a cause - that alone is worth recording. If the company then fails to implement that idea - don't bury the past. Perhaps there is a good reason, perhaps there is an awful reason - but it should remain since that was a large part of the discussion when lala.com was created and attracted attention in the press. MP3s, not CDs
[edit]Lala.com is now primarily not a CD-trading site. It's basically an MP3 store. This entry needs to be updated to reflect that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.117.1.1 (talk) 21:03, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
