Edit request
[edit]Please remove "Larissa Vados[4] (born April 27, 1983)[2] is an American former professional wrestler, better known by her ring name Lacey, most known for working with numerous promotions throughout Northern America career such as Ring of Honor, Shimmer, IWA-Mid South, Full Impact Pro, and NWA Midwest."
and replace with "The Lovely Lacey (born April 27, 1983)[2] is an American former professional wrestler, mostly known for working with numerous promotions throughout Northern America such as Ring of Honor, Shimmer, IWA-Mid South, Full Impact Pro and NWA Midwest."
In addition, the removal of "Larissa Vados" renders the relating reference "[4]" irrelevant, and should therefore be deleted as well.

- Why do you want the name removed? --NeilN talk to me 18:12, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
It has been made clear that the person this article is written about would prefer their real name not to be listed, and therefore it would be greatly appreciated if this request was respected. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MD357a (talk • contribs) 18:29, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- Unless there's a good reason, subjects of articles can't dictate what goes in or out of articles. Sorry. --NeilN talk to me 18:48, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
Well, to be honest, I'd have thought that respect for other peoples wishes for privacy would have been a good enough reason, would you not say? If inclusion of the relating detail was critical to the section, then fair enough, but I personally do not see what retaining this information actually achieves anyway. However, you may still view this as being irrelevant. Therefore, it would seem that the best course of action would be to present this request from a logical prospective; you stated that "subjects of articles can't dictate what goes in or out of articles.", and that would seem reasonable. However, the request for revision is not coming from the subject of the article, but from me. So, once more, I would personally greatly appreciate if you could edit the entry as stated. Many thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MD357a (talk • contribs) 19:13, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- The name of a person is not relevant in a biography? We include real names in articles like John Wayne and Marilyn Monroe because we're writing a encyclopedic biography, not a magazine article. The subject is a public figure and her real name is on a public website so you haven't given a good reason for the removal beyond your personal desires. --NeilN talk to me 19:37, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
Yes, it would be relevant in an article entitled 'Larissa Vados', but is this not about 'The Lovely Lacey, the wrestler'? Therefore, would it not be argued that is not a biography of the person, but of only the in - ring persona? Just on a side note, I would be extremely interested in how long this article has actually been up without her real name, and in addition, if any complaints were leveled at it due to the lack of what is all of a suddened deemed 'critical' information? —Preceding unsigned comment added by MD357a (talk • contribs) 19:51, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- I've asked the folks at Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling for their input. --NeilN talk to me 20:01, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
Many thanks Neil; as I said before, this is greatly appreciated MD357a (talk) 20:16, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- I believe for the longest time Nigel McGuinness didn't have his name listed by request, I'm not sure on specific guidelines but shouldn't it apply. Afro (Its More Than a Feeling) - Afkatk 20:28, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- Steve Haworth made a bogus legal threat years ago and being cautious his name was removed, when he signed with TNA and changed his stage name his real name became more well known. There was no reason to not reveal his name. Darrenhusted (talk) 22:20, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
For now I have removed the name per WP:BLPNAME. The real name has not been widely published at all, and on at least one site is noted as withheld by request. Kevin (talk) 21:35, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- A google search leads to at least one source giving the name. And BLPNAME seems to apply more to BLP1E or those involved in court procedures, not wrestlers trying to preserve kayfabe. Darrenhusted (talk) 22:12, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- That site seems to be a copy of this article, and not a reliable source. Kevin (talk) 06:18, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
- Indeed it does, what I am demonstrating is that removing the name here does not mean it will be gone from the internet. And so far I'm not hearing a reason as to why the name should be removed, a subject does not get to dictate what goes in an article. Darrenhusted (talk) 12:23, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
Can I just point out that of course the article is about Larissa Vados and not just "Lacey the wrestler", it's a biography page on an encylopedia website, not a profile on a wrestling website. The fact that it is 99% about her wrestling career is just unfortunate but since she seems to be protective of her personal life there isn't much about that at all. If she wants the name removed I do believe she has to request it herself. MPJ -DK 06:12, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
- So far she hasn't made the request, but rather the editor MD357a seems to be interpreting her kayfabe actions as her intentions. Darrenhusted (talk) 12:23, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
- Then why did she not make the request here? And she makes no reason for why her name should be removed, apart from " I absolutely need the name Larissa Vados to be removed from my page.", which is not a reason. And is a caps lock threat which gives no reason, other than she wants to maintain her kayfabe. Darrenhusted (talk) 19:49, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, I agree with you the name should stay (look above for my reasons). I'm just saying that someone who is probably the subject of the article has made the request for removal. --NeilN talk to me 21:06, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, yes I know we're in agreement. I'm just saying that the subject doesn't seem to be supplying any reason other than saying the article has had incorrect facts previously. She is neither confirming the name stated is correct nor saying that it should be removed because it is wrong, nor is she clear as to why the name should be hidden. Darrenhusted (talk) 21:47, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
- I'm for the name staying in no matter what. If the name is known to the public, then there is nothing that can be done. This user who "claims" to be the subject of the article, could or could not be the actual subject. Added no real reason has been given as to why the name should be removed. This is an encyclopedia, not a fansite. If a subject doesn't want their name displayed, then they shouldn't have let the name be published by sites.--WillC 04:04, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
- Drivel. If that name had been leaked out, as is entirely likely considering she is trying to protect her real name and is therefore hardly likely to have revealed it to other sites, then that is hardly her fault, is it? It seems completely ridiculous that subjects have been granted their wishes to have pages about them removed from Wikipedia, yet if a request is put in for the removal of a name, then that apparently is a problem. That just doesn't make sense at all. 90.219.94.134 (talk) 13:26, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
- This is somewhat difficult. I know in the past, individuals have requested that their articles be removed from wikipedia, and that request generally is honored, depending on the importance of the article, and/or the notability of the subject. As for a previous statement, the subject of the article is the person who wrestles as Lacey, Not the in ring persona. If a reliable precident cannot be found, i would suggest a RFC.
