[edit]I am amazed there is no mention of the unions past ties to organized crime —Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.160.5.25 (talk) 20:12, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit]I was a member in the early 1960s, when the name was changed. As I recall, the union's name before the change was Hod Carriers and Common Laborers (I don't know about apostrophes). Could some-one with access to a reliable source check?Kdammers (talk) 23:08, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

Labor Racketeering
[edit]"Internal union affairs cases involving the "big four" international unions, namely the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union, Laborers International Union of North America, and International Longshoremen's Association (ILA), still make up a significant portion of the OIG's racketeering investigations"
