According to Carlyle (<ital>Carlyle's Essay on Burns</ital>; Macmillan Company, 1900; reprinted March, 1906, p. 92), the author wrote on "scraps of leather," rather than on scraps of paper. Kdammers (talk) 11:25, 18 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
