POV and lack of historical perspectives
I added POV tag, because the article does not cover historical psychological perpectives, and instead seems to be about "Gay affirmative psychology". I will make this as a redirect also. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:17, 5 December 2017 (UTC)
--This article doesn’t include a school section in the Lead. It does have a family practices section, but it is extremely minimal and leans on more of the school than the family for “family” practices. Something that can be added is the current DSM and what it has on the subject. The article doesn’t feel like a psychology article. It has the tone and meat of “ problems facing LGBTQ community” article and less about psychology. Over presented topics are the discrimination of LGBTQ community.-Damoose95 (talk) 16:47, 29 January 2020 (UTC)
- This article has properly working links that lead a reader to the information that the writer is trying to give. The sources are supportive of the information presented in each section. Khonan74 (talk) 23:39, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
Sfoster736 (talk) 03:43, 17 February 2020 (UTC) This article should have more working links to the references so that they can be better reviewed. Also the article includes family in the lead but doesn't really go into it with much depth. Sfoster736 (talk) 03:43, 17 February 2020 (UTC)

Added to Article
Today I added content to this article. I added statistics and facts to the Mental Health section and the Schools section. I also added reliable references that helped me add to this article. I added two new sections. One of the sections I added is about Workplace Discrimination, and in it I added facts and statistics about what the LGBTQ+ community goes through in their careers with reliable resources to back the material up. The second section I added was about Pride, and in it I added facts about what Pride is and how it helps the LGBTQ+ community with reliable resources to back the facts up. Rename article
I suggest that the article title be changed from "LGBTQ psychology" to "LGBT psychology". LGBT is the stand usage on Wikipedia. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 07:24, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
- Greetings and salutations, I'm a self-loving Queer Gay Man. From my WP:POV Queers are grotesquely underserved. -- Jamplevia (talk) 10:03, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi All,
I am an experimental psychology PhD student working with a classmate to update this page as part of a project for our Advanced Social Psychology class. There are several updates we'd like to propose. We're wanting to:
- Make the page more inclusive by adding "LGBTQ+"
- Talk more about the definition of queer
- Go further into the "non-heterosexual, non-genderist approaches" for working with LGBTQ+ people
- Talk more about cis-gender and replace "non-trans people"
- Find updated info about LGBTQ+ youth (GSA seems to be outdated and there are newer/more inclusive clubs)
- Remove of the constant quotation marks around "coming-out"
- Find out more about "affective treatment" for LGBTQ+ individuals
- Touch on the harm and lack of efficacy of conversion therapy
What do you all think about this? Is there any disagreement about the proposed changes? We're looking more into building on what's already here.
Thank you,

- Even though you have abandoned your WP account since 2020, I do appreciate the way that you wrote: Talk more about the definition of queer. But there is no Definition of Queer because I'm Queer and I say so. -- Jamplevia (talk) 10:08, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
