I have heard of these being called Landing Platform Amphibious Watercraft 2000 (LPAW 2000). Have no references though... any thoughts? Anotherclown (talk) 12:29, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

They're the LCMs of a thousand names. Some sources call them LCM2000s, others LCM-2000s and others simply 'amphibious watercraft'. I went with LCM2000 because it was the only non-generic name used more than once in my sources, and appeared to be their official name. The status of the project is also unclear as there are no sources I can find which cover the ships since testing was broken off, the LCM-8s are still operational and the Defence Material Organisation is running a project to develop new landing craft to operate with the Canberra class Landing Helicopter Docks. I suspect that this project has been abandoned, but don't have any sources to confirm that. Nick-D (talk) 07:25, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Location as at July 2010

[edit]

As at July 2010, the LCM2000s appear to be laid up here. Nick-D (talk) 08:09, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Assess as B class

[edit]

Change B2 to yes for WPMILHIST & WPSHIPS "Coverage and accuracy" and B class. Others rated B1 and B3 to B5. The article is short, but seems complete and accurate. Djmaschek (talk) 20:58, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
