What does "LAD" come from, and why "Bible"? Seems such an obvious question, but if answered in the article, I've missed it. Eplater (talk) 03:02, 29 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

LadBible presents itself as a field of knowledge for young men. Lad is a UK term for a young man or boy. Bible can be a synonym of guidebook, defined as something to believe in or look up to. 92.6.81.14 (talk) 20:04, 3 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think you should add this explanation to the article as this is exactly what I was looking for when I googled it -- as in the US, it seems like such an odd name. Cglenn3932 (talk) 16:45, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Just went down a bit of a weird rabbit hole, and this article doesn't go into nearly enough depth on the controversial past of the LADBible brand, particularly the "lad commandments". The article feels like it was very much tampered with by someone associated with the site. I've been looking into edits and found some interesting things.

https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=LADbible_Group&diff=prev&oldid=1053005404 The user name is "Ellejmurray" (Ell(i)e J. Murray?), could not find any matches for such a person being involved in LADBible, but the link posted does appear to be a valid source, and specifically notes that LADBible apologised for the incident.

https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=LADbible_Group&diff=prev&oldid=894240105 This edit, from an unregistered IP, removes info that - while not damning - is sourced with links that do allude to the brand's spotty history.

https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=LADbible_Group&diff=prev&oldid=894240105 Finally, I found this user account - which I believe to belong to (I hate naming names, but there's no real other choice) Edward Watskinson, he had moved from LADBible to GRV Media in 2022, as that was also the same time he stopped editing LADBible pages and began editing pages about small-scale British sports publications including GRV. Most of his legitimate edits source or somehow involve LADBible. He created the article and his second edit was for the site Betta Living, which he also worked for according to a blog post. https://grv.media/news/grv-media-hires-ed-watkinson-as-director-seo-digital-growth/ https://monitormunching.wordpress.com/2011/08/26/recipe-deviled-shepherds-pie-aka-demon-spawn/#comment-1308

It doesn't appear that LADBible's history of misogyny was ever discussed on the page, even with a reversion afterwards, so there's technically not hardcore corporate censorship going on here, but still a cause for concern. RockosModernLifeFan848 (talk) 16:24, 26 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
