Borrowed concepts. . .or not
[edit]I really don’t like the line "The show's concept borrows from Smallville and Lost." so I removed it. I don’t see any connection with Lost because that show takes place on an island, about adults and has flashbacks( kyle xy does have a form of flashbacks), everything unlike Kyle XY. The only thing I see is the whole mystery side of things, but Lost in not the only show on TV that has mystery in it. Plus it’s not in the same style of mystery and every one is trying to compare every show to Lost just because it’s successful and tries to draw people in by comparing it. Smallville on the other hand I kind of see but still don’t like. Smallville we know who he is and what his future holds and we are just seeing how he got there. We don’t even know if Kyle truly has real super powers or is an alien like Clark. Most likely he is some kind of alien with super powers but both have not been reviled on the show and he could just as easily be some type of mutant or some being created in a lab. So until we know he is an alien or not I don’t see any connection to Smallville but even after that its kind of a stretch because the show would still have a lot of differences. If I see any connection to a TV Show it would be The_Journey_of_Allen_Strange because It’s about an alien who does not understand the world and stays with a family while he learns about it. - DidYouLoseASock 18:51, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- I will suggest that he is 'saviorish' like Superman and might have been born of Mother Earth.
- I added the Lost mention because the Disney Newsreel has several blurbs by executive producer David Himelfarb saying as such. Maybe it could be explained differently.
- There is, of course, looming uncertainty of Kyle’s past, not only for viewers, but for the cast as well. “There has clearly been a Lost influence,” Executive Producer David Himelfarb explains. “As the show has developed, it’s become more mythology and intrigue driven, much more so than originally conceived. It was a change that worked out really well.” Much like the closely guarded secrets of Lost, Kyle’s mysteries will remain until the time is right. Not even Matt knows the details. “They just tell me the things I need to know as an actor,” he explains.
- - kurros 20:16, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but this show is a total knock-off of LOST. What with alternate reality games, secret societies, and a episode preview of people getting stuck in blast doors, the writers are totally stealing LOST concepts. 70.20.63.82 15:47, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, this guy needs to back up his claims with some credible proof. LOST is a knock off of many other shows. Most of the things shown on Kyle XY are common television plots, used in many different series. This series remind me more of John Doe (Series from Sci Fi) than LOST. I seriously wish that people would refrain from posting theories and unproven concepts. WebYoungProgrammerMsg me 01:49, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Mysterious Guy in the Red Truck
[edit]I didn't catch the beginning but leaving out the guy in the red truck who stole Kyle's file from the Home for Boys s leaving out something important that should figure in big time in some future episode.
This person is clearly going to be the big bad for the series, or works for the big bad. The role is played by Nicholas Lea, famous for his role as Krycek, an FBI agent who {{spoilers}}
(for x-files season 2) who betrays Mulder in FOX's The X-Files.
Recasting Nicholas Lea in this sort of role was likely not random, as he was iconic as a mysterious enemy in the X-files.
Similarity to John Doe
[edit]The opening shots of Kyle XY, with Kyle waking up naked in the forest, the camera spinning down on him, are shockingly close to the opening sequence of John Doe, the short-lived (one season) show cancelled by FOX starring Dominic Purcell.

- I never even saw John Doe. I had just heard about it and whatnot, and even I saw the similarity. Michael 05:18, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
- John Doe can be seen on the SciFi Channel once in a while. I managed to see a couple of episodes during a marathon they were running. Kyle XY definitely reminds me of John Doe, but the sources of their information and reason they have it are different. Both are really good shows. - Anyone notice the similarity to the scene where Daniel Jackson reappears after ascension in "Stargate Sg1" in season 7 (I think) where he reappears in the forest?92.9.254.254 (talk) 00:32, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Lance Tyrell.
I see the similarity to the SG1 episode but that camera move has been used a lot in show I think it is a variation of the move from the first Terminator film. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.242.77.246 (talk) 14:23, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

TRANSCRIPTS
[edit]would a selfless person care to try realizing transcripts for each episode as they are aired?
There are transcripts written by die_zauberflote620 posted up on kylexyinfo.com[1]
- Creating a transcript for each episode violates copyright law. I have removed this fansite from the article for this reason, and also the fansite does not meet the WP:EL guidelines. Jtrost (T | C | #) 14:24, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
The only thing there about fansites is in two lines. A merge has been suggested.
- If you missed an episode, you can download it (legally!) for US$1.99. See the first section of this talkpage. --Icarus (Hi!) 00:59, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

You guys might want to watch what you say because you could wind up hurting yourselves as you could just wind up blatently reported. — JT (TRAiNER4) [TC][E] 12:34, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Well this has me a bit confused, why is a transcript a violation of copyright law? so long as the writer doesnt claim ownership of the story or attempt to sell or make money off it i dont see how this violates any laws. That would be like saying that quoting something some character in a TV show said is a violation of copyright law, ones writen the others verbal but aside from that same thing. Mloren 05:38, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- Because the writing (dialogue, plot, etc.) is copyright of the original writer(s). Quoting a line or two is fair use, because it's not the entire episode. In case you doubt this, try looking around online for why sites like Wikipedia won't let you include lyrics from songs that aren't in the public domain, even if the lyrics were "verbal" and then you wrote them down (by the way, "verbal" can include writing; you're thinking of aural, which is purely sound). If it is a summary, that's one thing; that's fair use, since it's your own description, even if it features a handful of quotes. It's not intended to be a full copy of the original, unlike a "transcript". Runa27 23:20, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Season 2 Premiere Date
[edit]This is a request for users to stop changing the premiere date for Season 2 to April 2nd, 2007. ABC Family will start reshowing Season 1 on April 2nd and plan to start Season 2 hopefully on June 4th or 11th. Those dates can't be confirmed so "Summer of 2007" should be used until a press release can be referenced with the exact date. Makowsky 19:00, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Adam Baylin
[edit]Doesn't Matt Dallas play Adam Bailen, too? And if so, should we add him under cast?

- J. Eddie Peck played Adam Baylen. — JT (TRAiNER4) [T·C·E] 03:19, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
MD's likeness is used to portray photos of a young Adam from the 1980s, hardly enough to warrant officially crediting MD as playing young Adam. All motion scenes involving the character are of the middle-aged Adam portrayed by JEP. Roxtar 06:40, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Jessi XX
[edit]has it been confirmed that the new charecter is called Jessi XX? Kyle has never been refered to as Kyle XY (on the show) so where would jessi xx come from.BYMAstudent 18:33, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- Watch the finaly and you'd know. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 85.225.218.146 (talk) 07:10, 30 April 2007 (UTC).
I know that the tube was labeled XX but that does not show Kyle as Xy Umm maybe Kyle is Xy because... THE SHOW IS KYLE XY???!!
I guess Jessi is labeled XX because she is female and Kyle is labeled xy beacuse he is male. From genetics, we learned that a male has xy chromosome and female has xx chromosome.
Kyle actually does refer to himself as "kyle xy" during the show. (ep. 4 season 3 "In the Company of Men") Jessi XX would be correct given that she is a female...
http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/XY_sex-determination_system —Preceding unsigned comment added by Len2len (talk • contribs) 03:50, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
There are two designations for both characters. When in gestation at Zzyzx each had a code number. The male, and supposedly only "subject", was 781227. The female, secretely produced by Brian Taylor, was 781228, with XX on the end of the tank. Both are referred to by code number and gender abbreviation by Julian Ballantine following the discovery of 781228 in Season 2. The characters acquire regular names during the story. Kyle Trager becomes a permanent legal name, after a diversion as Noah Peterson. Jessi is first represented as Jessi Hollander, later claimed by Brian to be Jessi Taylor, and is not adopted as Jessi Trager within the three seasons. Belly Button Mystery
[edit]I know why Kyle doesn't have a belly button. He was consumated (sorry about the spelling) in an artifical womb, therefor he diddn't need a umbillical cord, and the lack of an umbilical cord means, say it with me everybody, no belly button! I found this out by watching the end of Regis & Kelly, because I have that time now, and they had on the guy who plays Kyle and they showed that scene. Yeah. The world is quiet here.--BrianGriffin-FG 17:47, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
OK. What I did to the page was give the {{Infobox_Television}} on the page a major overhaul, giving more details that were not there before. Also, I went and removed unnecessary blank spaces in lists, and the page overall, updated the cast lists to give specific season numbers and order them appropriately, and I went and fixed the list in the soundtrack information. Hopefully, this makes the article more concise and easier to read and manage. —TRAiNER4 (talk • contrib) 00:35, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Narrator
[edit]I watched the "Alternate Pilot Episode" provided on the season 1 box set, and I've been fighting with my friend over whether or not the narrator changes. can anyone help me with this? -70.191.81.74 05:36, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes, it is a different narrator. In every episode the narrator has been Kyle (Matt Dallas). In the pilot, the voiceover was done by someone else. 69.129.124.158 02:12, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
Jessi XX Cloner
[edit]IN the preveiw of "house of Cards" they showed a picture of Adam Baylin with a girl that looked like Jessi, so that would mean Jessi is cloned from ethier Adam's sister (if he has one), a close family member or even an old girlfriend/wife.- RREDD13 20:09, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- Or just a girl he knew. Welcome to the realm of speculation. --Malevious Userpage •Talk Page• Contributions 20:30, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- The notion of cloning for Kyle and Jessi results only from the two photos from the 1980's. There is no information in the series about the creation of the fetus for either "experiment". In Sn2 ep1 Kyle says to Adam, "So you created me." Adam says only, "Yes." In the final moment of the final episode, Kyle's mother is claimed to be another member of Latnok, not Sarah. Sarah does appear, as Jessi's mother, and there is the same level of resemblance as between Peck and Dallas. We do know Brian claims to be her father, but we also know that he lies throughout, and that paternity can be faked as with the Petersons. The telepathic bond between Kyle and Jessi, beginning with Kyle outside the room for her tank and '781228 XX' twitching, is another plot feature, but again is not resolved as to source. The photos and scenes had to be made with the current actors, and served as "cliff hanger" points to further the impossible story, and that is all. - Thumlyly (talk) 2/18/11
episode nine season 2
[edit]who is Taylor again if forgot the collage profeccer who can't kyle trust —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.210.168.195 (talk • contribs)
- Taylor was Baylin's best friend and caretaker after Baylin's body began to fail him... in Ghost in the Machine he was found to have tampered with the cryptic message Baylin sent him thus proving him untrustworthy. The professor in question you're referring to is William Kern, the originator of the experiment 781227 (Kyle) in which he wanted but Tom stopped his futile attempts and saved his (Kyle's) life. —TRAiNER4 (talk • contrib) 15:59, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- Brian Taylor had been Adam's friend since boyhood, was part of Zzyzx from the beginning, and kept Adam informed about Zzyzx and "the outside world" after Adam's seclusion. He first appears as a visitor to Adam's mansion after Kyle is brought there. In flashback, we and Kyle learn that Brian had betrayed Adam in support of Kern's plans for 781227 as a biocomputer. Brian also somehow altered the coded message from Adam, to make Kyle distrust Tom Foss; but why, is not explained. He reappears in Sn 2 claiming to be Jessi's father, becoming more of a villain. - Thumlyly (talk) 2/18/11

Separate Music Page
[edit]A majority of web site seems to talk much about the soundtrack and the background music. I just added Season 3's Season Premiere episode [sorry about not being logged in], but if you would like to make changes to the way it is presented, that would be fine. Finally, I wasn't sure where to but the reference link [which is why it is stuck in the SEASON PREMIERE table of contents]. If you can fix this to a better representation of the web site, that would be great! Thanks!
Troyoda1990 (talk) 20:09, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- Never mind. Instead, I found a much more convenient way to organize the music into the Soundtrack section of the site. I hope you all like this as I found the entire idea great!
Setting
[edit]Why is it relevant that the series is filmed in Vancouver? Isn't it more relevant that it is set in Seattle? How many other wikipedia entries for films or television programs feature so prominently where they are filmed, at the expense of the setting for the film or television program? I can find none. Film and television program entries include the setting for the story, and mention filming locations secondarily, if at all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.200.252.2 (talk) 06:46, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
- See Stargate_SG-1 for an example of a TV show noting where it is filmed. This is common in many shows articles. 206.248.139.205 (talk) 02:49, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Regarding the "save the tub" campaign
[edit]I'm writing this in something of a response to the criticism of this Wikipedia article (seen here). I'd like to explain the problem we have with discussing the campaign and hopefully reach an understanding. I have no prior involvement with this article, nor am I involved with the people who reverted the earlier addition of information about the campaign. I'm just coming here having seen a report about it on a noticeboard. It's also of note that I am not a Wikipedia administrator, though even if I were what I say here would be no more binding.
Please understand that Wikipedia has some basic rules about what should be mentioned in an article. For example, there is a policy on verifiability (see WP:V) which discusses what sorts of sources are acceptable for attributing statements in Wikipedia articles (see WP:SOURCES and WP:SPS). In this case, there is no source available which meets these criteria to discuss the campaign. The closest we have are two about.com blog postings (here and here). However, blogs are generally not considered reliable sources in terms of our policies and guidelines as they do not have the editorial oversight present in more typical secondary sources (see WP:PSTS).
Even so, there's still no evidence provided that the campaign is even significant, and unless that is shown we have a problem of "undue weight" being assigned to the idea of this campaign (see WP:UNDUE). This goes along with the problem of sourcing; were the campaign significant enough to bear mention in the Wikipedia article, then it should be no problem to find sources which meet Wikipedia's reliable sourcing criteria.
I apologize if this comes off as arrogant, but Wikipedia's policies and guidelines attempt to describe what the overall Wikipedia community considers to be the procedures for article writing (see WP:PG for how our policies and guidelines work). If you disagree with this assessment, feel free to reply here or ask at WP:RSN or WP:EAR for more uninvolved opinions. I cannot stress enough that edit warring to include information will not succeed and will only result in varying degrees of protection to this and related articles, along with the revocation of editing privileges. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 23:13, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Kyle XY turned into a Soap
[edit]The first season was different from season 2 and 3. The last 2 seasons were soap operas (see sources below), and the Sci-Fi premises of the first season morphed into Fantasy or Magic to justify anything extraordinary Kyle would do (slowing down the speed of electrons in an electric cable, resuscitating Jessi, etc). Yet the article makes no mention of such difference between the original season and the others. As such, the article is either incomplete, or misleading.
