Japanese name
[edit]According to Japanese sources, pre-war Shana (紗那) was renamed to Kurilsk. Rubetsu (留別) is another village on the island. Google Maps (can be reached from coordinates link in the article) also supports this fact showing Japanese names 紗那港 (Shana Port), 紗那沼 (Shana Marsh), 紗那川 (Shana River) around the present settlement. Rubetsu is here. Russian page seems also confusing so that I hope someone would correct it. --Sushiya 21:34, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
