Notability

[edit]

I added the notability tag to open discussion as to whether Kshama Sawant meets the notability criteria of Wikipedia. While she has run for multiple times unsuccessfully, so have many other unlisted politicians. Further, nothing of her background before her entry into politics merit her biography page on Wikipedia on their own. For the above reasons, and since this page seems to be largely used as an extension of her campaign website, I believe this page meets the criteria for deletion from here. 24.19.133.152 (talk) 06:22, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If there isn't an objection I'll remove the tag. The only other edit from the IP above was to state (incorrectly) that she'd just lost the election. Given that she will almost certainly advance to the general (not all votes are counted) and there are a number of news stories about her, she seems clearly notable, at least for now, and its addition could be interpreted as an attempt to discredit her campaign. I've added a recent Seattle Times article and removed the tag. There are probably more journalistic sources to be found as well. Ibadibam (talk) 21:01, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
