this is KoЯn, not Korn

the band is named KoЯn --82.139.5.13 (talk) 10:46, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Okay so?! It's not that big of a deal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.81.201.173 (talk) 20:38, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

Inclusion of Brian Head Welch

Is he officially rejoined? I see he did not YET. Therefore why is he listed as one of the current members in the top right corner?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 27.147.168.168 (talk) 17:37, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

No, he has not officially permanently rejoined Korn. Some people just keep adding it back every time its removed. Nbcwd (talk) 23:00, 10 March 2013 (UTC)
I changed it today to include Brian "Head" Welch as a former member from 1993-2005 and under Touring Members from 2013-present. I think that even though he is listed twice it best describes his current and former involvement in the band. Surely he doesn't belong under Current Members. Hopefully soon thought.--Jimv1983 (talk) 08:34, 15 March 2013 (UTC)
I like that idea! Nbcwd (talk) 12:18, 15 March 2013 (UTC)

Just wanted to let you all know that it IS OFFICAL the "Head" is back in the band. I am not for sure if it is forever.~MysteriesGurl14 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.81.201.173 (talk) 20:41, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

David Silveria on "Dancing with the Stars"? LOL WTF?

This is from his page: "For the first time in three years David appeared promoting Lil Kim in Dancing with the Stars." Is there a source for that? If so, I'd like to see it, I bet it's funny! 98.174.219.202 (talk) 00:44, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
Well if it's on his page then you should ask there. Daeth (talk) 13:40, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

I just looked up ' David Silveria on dancing with the stars' on google imagines. And sure enough there was a picture~MysteriesGurl14 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.81.201.173 (talk) 20:43, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

New Album Title?

Paradigm Shift? Is that indeed the title of the new album? Is there evidence of this? - SilentDan297 talk 14:32, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

No, this is not accurate. They have not announced the title as of yet. Nbcwd (talk) 17:35, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

Metalstep

With KoRn III - Remember who you are (and then absolutly with Path of Totality), everybody knows this is the new page of metal music. It has been called Metalstep, and the most of people (according to my observing of metal fan community) marked KoRn as founders of this semi-genre. At least, Metalstep should be written in played genres. In article about dubstep, there are also mentioned about Metalstep and KoRn. Pardon me for my english, I am not from english-speaking country, and I am still learning. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.45.248.114 (talk) 02:09, 1 November 2013 (UTC)

Album Chronology

Hello, I've edited the chronology in some of the album pages for consistent navigation, i.e. if the navigation shows album names "D E F" (previous, current, following) then the next page should have "E F G" and not "D F G". Some of the EP's were only listed as 'previous album' but never as 'next album', so if you started from the back and worked your way to the most recent album you'd see less pages than if you started with the most recent album and clicked through the previous albums.

However, I think I may have messed up a bigger concept: the navigation now lists all EP's and MTV Unplugged in the chronology. (I've never added any albums that were not at least present as 'previous album' in the chronology.) I'm not that familiar with Wikipedia but I believe it may be desired to remove the EP's and perhaps MTV Unplugged, as well as Korn Essentials, as to have a studio album chronology, since I've seen that is the case with other bands.

The issue right now is that Greatest Hits, vol. 1 is not in the chronology at all, while all other works were (and are) present in the chronology — earlier at least mentioned as 'previous album' and now consequently. Therefore, it may be desirable to integrate Greatest Hits, vol. 1 into the chronology as well or to remove the EP's and compilation albums from the chronology altogether. That's up to expert Wikipedians and not to IP addresses like me. ;)

I hope I could phrase the situation in an understandable way; thanks for your time. 84.75.9.162 (talk) 19:54, 14 January 2014 (UTC) (lKj)

Record Sales - Edit War

There is currently an edit war on this topic, nearly every day someone is changing 35 to 50 million records sold. I have tried to find a reference backing this up however I have not been successful, so can someone also have a look to see what they can find because I'm lost. - SilentDan297 talk 15:14, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

I haven't been successful. If I had been, I would have changed the reference. Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:23, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
It got declined with the reasoning: "Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection."....I guess we'll have to keep an eye on the article until someone finds a source. CrowzRSA 05:26, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
That's fine too. Since it's only about once a week, it's pretty simple to monitor. Walter Görlitz (talk) 06:14, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Why is Alternative metal one of there genres? They're mainly Nu metal. This is Korn you guys. --72.251.108.163 (talk) 02:23, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 20 December 2014

As of 2012, Korn had sold around 35 million copies worldwide, it says, but...

1. The album has now sold over 10 million copies worldwide. ( First album ) 2. Life is peachy over 6 million copies worldwide. 3. Follow the Leader has sold over 14 million copies worldwide. 4. Issues album has sold over 13 million copies worldwide. 5. Untouchables has sold over 5 million copies worldwide. 6. Take a Look in the Mirror has sold over 2 million copies out of US. 7. See you on the other side. It has accumulated 1,451,458 copies sold in the United States according to Nielsen SoundScan

Simple math - 10 + 6 + 5 + 13 + 14 + 2 + 1 = more than 51 million copies sold, without counting the last couple of albums.

Kornjubi (talk) 11:17, 20 December 2014 (UTC)

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Unfortunately, even simple math is OR and not permitted on the site. If you can find the current sales for each album and list those with a link back to the source, someone will happily update them all for you. — {{U|Technical 13}} (etc) 23:48, 20 December 2014 (UTC)

Edit Request: "20th Studio Album" in title should be 12th

Pretty sure they're working on their twelfth studio album now, as is written below the title that mentions the "20th studio album." 84.75.8.21 (talk) 15:19, 29 April 2015 (UTC) (lKj)

Addition to the style section, and add source request.

In terms of the style section, the bands current style is not really explained. In the style section there is no mention of how their style has evolved. The only album's style that is mentioned is their debut album, which was miles different from "The Path to Totality". Then, in their follow up album, "The Paradigm Shift", the sound changed dramatically again with Brian Welch returning to the band. This change would bring back the more classic style Korn are known for. Therefore, I believe that this review in Rolling Stone Magazine,[1], would be relevant in the discussion of Korn's style. This source is credible as it is from the Rolling Stone, and would add to the explanation of Korn's style.

Record sales 2.

Their have sold more than 50 million copies, I don't know why does it sit on 35 for so long. Fix that nonsense please. Korn, Follow the Leader and Issues alone have sold more than 30 million copies WORLD WIDE. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.187.98.85 (talk) 06:02, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

Funk rock.

Normally I'd just make the edit because I have the sources, but since it said nothing gets changed genre wise before it's discussed here, anyone think we should add funk rock based on these sources?[2][3][4]

No, because individual comments don't really apply. MTV does not go into analysis. For that matter, neither do the others. I would trust AllMusic to at least mention it but Rolling Stone's review alludes to it. Maybe you are onto something. Walter Görlitz (talk) 02:23, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

"Take Me" single needs to get a page already.

Currently the second promotional single "Take Me" is on:

7th spot on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart ( http://www.billboard.com/charts/hot-mainstream-rock-tracks )

10th on Active Rock chart ( http://www.americasmusiccharts.com/index.cgi?fmt=R2 )

36th on Rock Airplay ( http://www.billboard.com/charts/rock-airplay )

The song is actually pretty successfull on the radio. It is expected to reach top 5 on Mainstream Rock songs and Active Rock in the next few weeks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.187.98.85 (talk) 16:32, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

Jonathan Davis did not officially play drums in Korn

He only played drums on a couple songs on Untitled, Terry Bozzio and Brooks Wackerman did almost all the drums. Please stop adding drums to Jonathan in the band members section.Teresa44 (talk) 23:41, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

I agree. Jonathan is primarily known for lead vocals and bagpipes. He is not the drummer. He also played guitar on "Kill You" and "Mr. Rogers" from Life Is Peachy. Does that make it necessary to add guitars next to his name? Infex (talk) 00:00, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
He did drums and percussion on 4 tracks on Untitled. It's valid to credit him with drums/percussion. I would also agree that guitars should be added due to his work on Life Is Peachy. Nbcwd (talk) 05:14, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
Marking JD as playing the drums is ridiculous. Just because he farted on the drums doesn't mean he deserves credit as the official drummer. Zdawg1029 (talk) 14:56, 20 March 2017 (UTC)

Its not Rock

You know what. You might as well change korn to a "Music" band if you want to be vague...--75.139.107.252 (talk) 10:44, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

And how exactly is Korn not a rock band?--猛禽22 12:58, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

It's an extremely vague term and insults me as a fan. That doesn't mean wikipedia has to change it. But it does nonetheless make me angry with the editors. Rock is like that old CRAP from the 60s. KORN IS NU METAL, GET OVER IT!--75.139.107.252 (talk) 01:25, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Nu metal is a sub-genre of Rock music. So saying that the band is a rock band is 100% accurate because nu metal is rock. GripTheHusk (talk) 01:30, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
I give up, call it rock if you want, it still isnt. Its nu metal. All these dumb wikipedia editors favor lies over facts.--75.139.107.252 (talk) 20:53, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

That's the whole problem right there. Rock and metal are two different genres. It is insulting to a Metal band to be called Rock. You don't Label a Blues artist as Electro or a Jazz artist as Country do you? Metal is its own genre and deserves it's own classification. Nú Metal is a sub-genre of Metal. MisterAaft (talk) 17:05, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Metal came from Rock music. Rock 'n' roll is subgenre of rock, and that is "shit" from 60s. Rock is global term for any music that uses electric guitars and drums, and have it's characteristic style of melody and singing.VuXman talk 18:14, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

korn are part of a wave of music that emerged in the 80s & 90s called "hard alternative rock" (more commonly known as alternative metal or nu metal) so yes technically they are rock not metal, and korn fans insistence on putting nu metal over rock just goes to show how obsessed nu metal fans are with trying to prove how "metal" and "brootol hardcore" their bands are which is why everyone hates nu metal and bands like korn. — Preceding unsigned comment added by I call the big one bitey (talkcontribs) 17:19, 10 June 2012 (UTC) Metal is a sub-genre of rock music, the same way punk is, saying it's not is just stupid to be honest, metal is pretty much harder hard rock, a genre doesn't become it's own genre just be being heavier, saying metal is it's own genre is like saying hardcore punk is it's own genre and not a sub-genre of punk.--84.13.85.148 (talk) 00:42, 27 December 2012 (UTC)

No section about their musical style and influence?

I'm very surprised that there is no section about Korn's musical style, influence's, and influence on other bands. I would especially think that a band like Korn would have this section since they are credited as creating a popular genre of music and have influenced many bands, Slipknot has this section but yet they have yet to be considered an influential band.Xx1994xx (talk)

Heavy metal and Nu metal

The band Korn have been considered the pioneers of the Nu Metal sound. Their genre has been criticized by some metal purists to have been not real heavy metal. Due to controversies and arguments over the band being heavy metal or not than just with nu metal being heavy metal or not, here's what lead singer Jonathan Davis said about it. “There’s a lot of closed-minded metal purists that would hate something because it’s not true to metal or whatever, but Korn has never been a metal band, dude. We’re not a metal band.” He continued, “We’ve always been looked as as what they called the nu-metal thing. But we’ve always been the black sheep and we never fitted into that kind of thing so … We’re always ever evolving, and we always piss fans off and we’re gaining other fans and it is how it is.”

Another quote

"I remember when were coming out we were fighting being called a metal band because we weren't a metal band, we were something that wasn't classifiable," Davis says. "Then they came up with 'nu-metal' but that's still cheesy. It's frustrating."

The Nothing (Korn album)

Support split - I started the album article for The Nothing, but Walter Gorlitz reverted it before I had a chance to expand upon it. I support creation of the article. Thoughts? --Jax 0677 (talk) 17:27, 16 August 2019 (UTC)

Please do not add back the album track list. This is an article about the band, not the album. The track list has no bearing on the encyclopedic value of this article, which is a Good one btw. Your addition diminishes the quality of this article. Did you actually read the reason why Walter deleted your article? Robvanvee 15:25, 19 August 2019 (UTC)

The Nothing

The Nothing , the upcoming album by American heavy metal band Korn is expected to be released next month. I tried to create an article, but was reverted. I would like to create The Nothing (Korn album), but my additions to Korn for this album were also reverted. --Jax 0677 (talk) 16:26, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

The reason for being reverted according to Walter was "redirecting as not yet notable". The reason I reverted you was for adding the track list of an album to a good article. Perhaps by now and with a few more reliable sources this article is ready for creation. I have pinged Walter here, so let's wait for his response. Robvanvee 16:52, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
If there is enough to write an article about, it should be OK now. There's no doubt that the album will become notable at some point, I just hate creating articles before they're notable. Walter Görlitz (talk) 18:35, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
That must be one of the most lazy attempts at creating an article I've seen. You complained when Walter reverted you but all you have done is slap down the track list on the redirect and called it an "article". At this point, you may have just created a draft. As it stands, I would support its removal until notability is attained. Robvanvee 06:58, 27 August 2019 (UTC)

zac bird's departure

how long was zac in the band? 10-? 11? 11.5? From this source https://web.archive.org/web/20190720052905/https://digitalnoisemag.com/2017/03/is-ghosts-new-keyboardist-zac-baird-of-korn/ it says 10 years, but on his social media page Hoäse @korn_official he stated "It is with a brave heart that I allow the universe to pull me in a new direction. I'd like to take a moment to extend my love and appreciation to all my Koyan brothers, and of course you, the fans, for the last 11.5 years. Onward to new adventures. Love & compassion". The original source does not say when he started but says that he left in 2016. Can we have admin clarification on this?

Hi recently User:Tobi999tomas keeps insisting Ray Luzier should be listed before Brian "Head" Welch in the current members section despite Welch being an original member of the band. He wants it listed as this:

His argument is that because Welch left the band and Luzier joined before Welch returned Luzier should be listed first. He claims "this is how we do it here" yet this is not the standard I have ever come across on Wikipedia. For instance bands like Judas Priest, Van Halen, Iron Maiden, Guns 'n' Roses etc. all list returning original members over those who joined before those members returned. I would admin to intervene and state the correct way. I strongly believe the correct way based on the standard seen all over Wikipedia would be:

If an admin can settle this argument. Also User:Tobi999tomas if an admin rules in my favour that means should you continue to revert the edit after the matter is settled you would be vandalising the page and could be blocked from editing. Thanks. JugulatorJJ (talk) 21:38, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

I'm no admin but I would restore Welch to his former place when he rejoined. It's not like he's suddenly the new guy. Binksternet (talk) 21:52, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
I"m with Binksternet on this. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:39, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
And for the record, we work on WP:CONSENSUS, not in an administrative autocracy.
Also for the record, the whole project has been following the agreed-upon documentation at Template:Infobox musical artist#current members: {{xt|Current members of the group, listed in order of joining]]. So now the only question is, did Head join before or after Luzier? His first was before and his second was after, which is why I'm with Binksternet on this. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:45, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
I also agree that Head should be listed before Ray since Head is a founding member; I'm surprised this even needs to be deliberated. StuOnThis (talk) 21:57, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

Fieldy's Hiatus

As far I as know from anything I've read up this point, Fieldy's hiatus is just that: a hiatus. He hasn't been fired or otherwise dismissed as a band member, nor has he or the rest of the band indicated he's a former member with no plan on returning. There was a recent edit that removed him from the band member list and while my initial impulse was to undo it given the lack of citation for the action, I thought it may be somewhat valid enough at this point to bring it to the table here for us to discuss. I personally believe it should be undone until his status as a former member has been made official. StuOnThis (talk) 13:12, 20 October 2022 (UTC)
