[edit]

Not all Koreans after the world war II we're gone into the the Philippines to search for better living but there are some of them. And we're talking about the first immigrants, not at all. It is also mentioned in the TV SHOW "Kapuso mo Jessica Soho in an episode about koreans in the Philippines. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.106.8.181 (talkcontribs) 12:08, 16 April 2007

Then you should mention this when you make the edit that removed the {{fact}} tag. I would also prefer a stronger reference than a television show, due to the functional difficulty of verification of the content (back episodes of television shows are not easy to obtain for the average editor even in the country where the television has been shown). cab 04:12, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are you certain it's the late 1980's? That doesn't seem right. I think it's at least the late 1990's and more likely early 2000's.

"However, the Korean community in the Philippines had little influence on Philippine society until the late 1980s, when the Korean wave (the mass influx of Korean tourists and immigrants, as well as the increasing popularity of South Korean television and pop music) started.[2]" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hardyandtiny (talkcontribs) 11:19, August 27, 2007 (UTC) that's all — Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.201.136.72 (talk) 10:50, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"Korean Filipinos"

[edit]

Anyone got any any verifiable information about Filipinos of Korean descent? Definitely don't form a significant population compared to expatriates and their kids. And this term "Korean Filipinos" doesn't seem to be used in the first place; e.g. don't see it anywhere on Google/Google Books. [1][2] cab 01:33, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Moreover, many missionaries from Korea have come here to the Philippines to help many people who face adversity and to bring these people to Christ and accept God as their Saviour. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.60.241.233 (talk) 17:47, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Move to Korean in the Philippines: There is no plural for Korean

[edit]

Like most ethnic group, Korean doesn't have a plural in English dictionary. In Merriam Webster, Korean, is defined as native of Korea. There's no entry of Koreans. Likewise, there's no plural of Indian(s), Chinese (Chineses) Japanese(Japaneses) etc. Therefore, to move Koreans in the Philippines to Korean in the Philippines, which is more grammatically safe and ethnically acceptable, shouldn't cost much or hurt anybody's feeling, I hope. Clari 2010 (talk) 14:54, 5 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The plural for 'Korean' is indeed 'Koreans' as is accepted and understood in the proper English speaking world. The reason you wouldn't have found Koreans as a separate entry in the Webster dictionary or ANY dictionary for that matter is that dictionaries out of convention and common sense simply do not list plurals of words as separate entries. Think about it, otherwise the dictionary would be extremely redundant thus useless as it would have much unnecessary content. Anyways there really doesn't seem to be an issue with Koreans themselves being called "Koreans" collectively and "Korean" individually for clarification purposes. bzer86 16:05, 27 July 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.254.33.110 (talk) [reply]

Listing People as of Korean Descent (possible BLP issues)

[edit]

This list has been edited repeatedly to add names to a section called "Filipino people of Korean descent", without any citation showing Korean heritage or ties, and with no information in the linked article. I have checked all the linked articles and none seem to support the addition. If the person is living, this could be a WP:BLP issue. Disparaging to Philippines

[edit]

RE section on Racism, the Philippines should see this and other evidence of animosity towards Filipinos, deport hostile and offensive immigrants, and restrict or ban land, property, and business ownership. Feelings of superiority and colorism are no excuse and fail,to explain the vicious anti-Philippine hatred absent in others like the Japanese. The comment by "Gong" is one sided and inflammatory. Koreans have features Filipinos wouldn't want and he'll find some Filipinos taller and/or lighter than he. Sinsoldier33 (talk) 17:49, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
