Different kinds
[edit]When I was a kid, I used to have some of these (actually alot.) I do remember that there were a couple different kinds including a soft kind that had the center ball but then soft loops coming out of it. I was definitly the Koosh ball brand though. There was another one that was typical Koosh ball but also had short threads of a different color so that it looked like one was inside of the other. Anyone know anything about these? --Turnerjl 04:56, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- The original koosh were just the tendrils from the center. The later ones retained some of the loops which came from the manufacturing process, but had previously been cut. Retaining them allowed them to be hung on store hooks. There are a variety of koosh sizes released both smaller and larger than the original. I will try to take a photo of my genuine koosh (I have a collection) for this page .../Nemo (talk) 20:35, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
I think Koosh balls would be great for kids on the Autism spectrum
[edit]I was just recommending one of these balls to a parent of a child with either Autism or Asperger's Syndrome, about Koosh balls being a good idea for an alternative to other forms of stimming. I noticed when I tried looking them up on the net they weren't being made anymore, I think there would be a bigger market now seeing how they would be so useful to parents who have kids with intellectual disablities. There's that and also, I'm feeling like "NOOO, MORE OF MY CHILDHOOD IS GOOONNEEEE!!" LoL I'm hoping with all the 80's products resurfacing as a novelty market aimed at 20-somethings, they might bring Koosh back.Violet yoshi (talk) 09:08, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
They are great for kids with Asperger's Syndrome. I got mine when I was 5 or 6 but was not diagnosed till I was 10. They are great for to when I'm stressed. God I lose it every so often be I've been lucky enough to find it every time. --Thealienamongus (talk) 11:39, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
- It might make you happy, Violet Yoshi, to learn that today I was able to buy a lovely new Koosh ball in half-blue-half-orange for £3.49 in Eastleigh Tescos!! Don't know if being in England helps you in any way, but that's a sign they may be on the way back in!! Lady BlahDeBlah (talk) 10:01, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
- In North America we have a koosh ball tree! 67.142.172.27 (talk) 04:07, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
Edit war over the inventor?
[edit]If you look at the history of the edits, there are a number of edits back and forth in the opening sentence about who patented the Koosh ball. I'm guessing this is some arcane bit of toy history, I've got no idea who actually patented it, but the Google Scholar link that's already cited shows Stillinger, so that's what I went with in my recent fix to the title, because there was an edit that resulted in a nonsensical opening sentence: https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Koosh_ball&type=revision&diff=876580083&oldid=876552870 and that's clearly not acceptable.
I have no idea what the correct answer is here, who's doing it, and I'm not a regular Wikipedia editor, so I've got no interest in participating in said edit war or whatever controversy there is around the inventor - but this should probably be sorted out by the regular Wikipedia crowd. It may be worthwhile to protect or semi-protect the page.
In the meantime, I simply edited the sentence to match the existing reference and be logically coherent.

Proposed merge of Koosh Kins into Koosh ball
[edit]Strongly related topics, with Koosh Kins not currently demonstrating independent notability. Ost (talk) 16:56, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- Merge – Agreed. As is, Koosh Kins doesn't appear to be notable on its own. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 18:17, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- Merger complete. Klbrain (talk) 16:40, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
