Nomination for deletion
[edit]According to the offensive reply of user:Lukeno94 [[1]] I've provided much of information that is required by the community not to have this page deleted. User:GiantSnowman according to your post [[2]] i think its fine by now so i guess an administrator can delete the templates (of nomination of deletion and rest that the user lukeno94 added). Thanks for the restore, ill provide more information as soon they are available to the public. CC: User: Anna Frodesiak Argento1985 19:16, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- Not nearly that simple, I suggest you make your case at the AFD page. GiantSnowman 19:17, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- Does this page misses something else, i think all the required ref were provided, so i'm able to reply to that statement of the report that lukeno94 done. Argento1985 19:21, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
@user:Lukeno94 According to your note [here] if Anorthosis Famagusta F.C. is not a fully professional team then you have to check the whole history of the team, to figure it out. Argento1985 19:19, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- Excuse me, what exactly was offensive about my reply? I stated that I felt you had misinterpreted the guidelines. And I still do. How is that offensive in any way, shape or form? Also, what's the rubbish about me adding various templates? I opened the AfD debate, yes, but not the other templates. And the AfD template will not be removed until the AfD is closed. Stop making false accusations and attacking other editors. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 19:21, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- I did not attack anyone, by the next minute that administrator User:GiantSnowman restored the page you directly nominated it again for deleting, thats at least a disrespect for the admin that for some reason restored it. Argento1985 19:32, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- Rubbish. GiantSnowman went and voted "delete" in the AfD, so they clearly weren't disrespected. Again, stop making false accusations. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 20:09, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- Comment I was CCd, so I guess I ought to comment. I don't see any offensive reply. The article can be AfDd at any time if it doesn't pass Wikipedia:Notability (sports). I don't know what a fully-professional team really is, so I won't comment at the deletion debate. If you asked me to comment because James Georgeff is also AfD, please understand that I moved that into the mainspace in good faith after discussion with the author at IRC. He assured me that it passed Wikipedia:Notability (sports). I asked him three or four times if he was sure. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:13, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
Laifis is a professional footballer of a 1st division club in Cyprus He is current international player and many sources show the player infos --CG10 18:34, 14 August 2013 (UTC) @ User:Lukeno94 im not gonna waste more time with you because i don't like the whole conversation that it started from a un-delete progress, lets see who get it done, you or me through the system. @ User:Anna Frodesiak FYI; UEFA doesnt accept any non-professional teams, Europa League and Champions league are its competitions for long time now. How is possible a player to be recognized by UEFA and not by mr. Lukeno94. If this doesnt pass, unfortunately i have to quit editing wikipedia because has no sense. - I'm afraid I can't answer that. I know nothing about the sport. And please, no need to quit editing. Disagreements don't have to cause you stress. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:11, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
- i have no idea how i can vote against deletion, currently i can see 2 negative and 1 positive vote. [[3]] Argento1985 01:30, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
- There are definitely semi-professional teams in the Europa League qualification stages. :) Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 07:20, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

References
[edit]To show the player passes the general notability guideline, you need articles about Mr Laifis in reliable secondary sources independent of the subject. This means not just listings in stats databases like Espnfc or Transfermarkt (Transfermarkt isn't a reliable source anyway), and not just mentions on his club's website. Those sources are good to confirm things like when he joined a club, or what matches he played, but they don't tell the reader anything about the player.
But what really doesn't help is adding "references" that don't verify the information in the article. Examples:
- the infobox says he joined Anorthosis in 2010: his club profile (current ref #6) says January 2012;
- the Enosis Neon Paralimniou section is sourced to Espnfc and Transfermarkt: neither source mentions that club;
- the article says Anorthosis bought him from Enosis: the balla.com.cy page (current ref #1) says he came from Nottingham Forest's academy, and that international clearance had been requested from the English authorities.
Although, in my opinion, having played for Anorthosis against another pro-league club in the Europa League qualifying rounds is enough to technically pass the football notability guideline (some would disagree), there are many instances in the past of pages about players with minimal professional appearances being deleted because they just aren't generally notable enough to have a WP article. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:12, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
