[edit]Is this person really important enough to have a page? Guardian (talk) 18:48, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, perhaps he will be the next prime minister of Romania. Disraelly (talk) 19:16, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
- As the mayor of a major city, he's notable in any event. Urban XII (talk) 19:28, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yes! He is the president of Romania — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.192.39.46 (talk • contribs) 18:12, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
Name
[edit]What is his actual name? His own website spells it as Klaus Johannis in the URL and HTML title ( http://www.klausjohannis.ro ), but also as Klaus Iohannis. Urban XII (talk) 19:24, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Klaus Iohannis, but people wrongly write Johannis.Disraelly (talk) 04:18, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
- Any source for this? He seems to write both Johannis and Iohannis himself. Urban XII (talk) 20:35, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
Look for his declaration of wealth( declaratia de avere). His name is spelled Iohannis there.
- sources for both: http://www.turnulsfatului.ro/2014/05/16/iohannis-sau-johannis-turnul-sfatului-tv/
- When he was born a roumanian idiot refused to accept the german spelling of his family Name, but he signs himself in private correspondence Johannis like his family did over 500 years. He could change that but considered it as a minor issue and accepted officialy Iohannis. --91.34.216.173 (talk) 09:11, 19 November 2015 (UTC)
Orphaned references in Klaus Iohannis
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Klaus Iohannis's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Dc76's edits
[edit]Again User:Dc76 labels constructive edits as "vandalism"[1]. Describing Croitoru as "an economist" is much better than " a a peeminent economist" (sic!). Repeatedly reinstating weasel words and spelling errors is just plain disruptive. Urban XII (talk) 00:43, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
Dear Urban XII, as much as I would like to contradict you and say "you are wrong, I am right", that much I realize that would not be helpful. Let's say we got to a wrong foot start, can we, please? Please, let's try to work this out. Let's give it a chance. We can always start to disagree again later. I just looked over the last version by you: 00:50, 22 October 2009. You know that we only differ in this one sentence:
- The majority parties, however, continue to insist on Iohannis as Prime Minister, and on October 21, the Parliament of Romania officially adopted a resolution demanding that Iohannis be nominated as Prime Minister.[1] The resolution is not binding, but a Prime Minister cannot take office without parliamentary confirmation.
I propose this instead:
- The opposition, which has a majority in the Parliament, adopted a political declaration on October 21, asking for Croitoru to resign his nomination and vowing support for Iohannis.[2]
What do you think? Dc76\talk 01:27, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- It's more correct to state that the Parliament of Romania, rather than the opposition, adopted a declaration. I propose:
- The opposition, which has a majority in the Parliament, continue to support Iohannis as Prime Minister, and on October 21, the Parliament adopted a declaration asking for Croitoru's withdrawal and vowing support for Iohannis.[3]
- Urban XII (talk) 01:40, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- It's more correct to state that the Parliament of Romania, rather than the opposition, adopted a declaration. I propose:
Sure, that is perfect! Dc76\talk 01:53, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- "Opposition" is rather a misnomer here, since presently there isn't any legally constituted government, just an ad interim one.Anonimu (talk) 07:02, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- Do you have any ideas for a better expression? Urban XII (talk) 16:01, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
Johannis or Iohannis
[edit]The article was previously named Klaus Johannis, but was recently moved to Klaus Iohannis. I notice that at least non-Romanian media usually spell his name as Johannis, that all other Wikipedia editions use Johannis, and that "klaus johannis" returns 408 000 Google hits while "klaus iohannis" returns only 124 000. Given that he apparently uses both spellings himself, notably in the URL of his website (http://www.klausjohannis.ro), I think the article should perhaps be named Johannis, which seems to be the original spelling of the name, with indication of the use of the Iohannis spelling in Romanian in the lead (something along the lines of Klaus Johannis, in Romanian often spelled Iohannis...) (also note that the Johannis spelling is also used by many Romanian sources) Urban XII (talk) 10:46, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
- His name, in official documents is always spelled with an "I" (even on his website, this spelling is used everywhere but the address). So I'd rather keep it at the current title.Anonimu (talk) 23:15, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
- Still, the Johannis spelling appears to be predominant in English (Romanian English language media almost exclusively use Johannis as well), and also to be the original spelling, while Iohannis is more of a transliteration into Romanian. Urban XII (talk) 01:16, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
- As he is a German, his name is correctly spelled "Johannis". But the functionary at the Civil Registrar misspelled his name "Iohannis". So, officially, his name is spelled "Iohannis". ES Vic (talk) 16:37, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Honours & post-nominals
[edit]Do any of Iohannis' listed honours require any post-nominals in the lede? I'm not yet familiar enough with continental European honours systems to know. I can look into this, but if anyone has a quicker answer, it would be greatly appreciated. — Sasuke Sarutobi (talk) 13:31, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
