Notable

[edit]

Per WP:BIO, mayors are not automatically notable. Thus need some reliable sources from the media to establish notability. Aboutmovies 00:33, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, this article doesn't even have her real name. I say delete it 24.20.200.29 (talk) 23:58, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
But it is her real name —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.220.221.155 (talk) 05:42, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bam! Eat it. Added infobox and paragraph w/ link to article on firefighters and such. Full disclosure: my brother worked on her campaign. I think I maintained NPOV, except of course that I only updated this page at all because I didn't want it deleted. Can you violate NPOV existentially? There were lots of other articles (almost all from the local Register Guard - does that count?) but most were a few years old, and only slightly more interesting. Should her term end be listed if she may be re-elected? Also, what is her real name, if not Kitty? I can't find it (or birth date/place). But you seem to know, Mr. 24.20.200.29, if that is your real name. :P -Fredgoat (talk) 05:37, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is she really notable if nothing from her first term as mayor is included in the article? 67.171.221.28 (talk) 18:19, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV tag

[edit]

This article talks about Piercy's involvement with transportation, but doesn't provide enough context or citations to justify the claims that certain things are "a result of her advocacy" etc. It also doesn't say who's criticized her. Note that criticism sections are generally discouraged on Wikipedia, in favor of a balanced discussion of the specific topic. I also suspect there's a matter of undue weight -- is the transportation issue the only notable issue she's engaged with as mayor?? -Pete (talk) 23:17, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the "criticisms" section because it had clearly been added by a political opponent, then modified by a supporter. It also seemed ridiculous that the whole section was devoted to nothing but the West Eugene Parkway, which is a far more complex issue than the article made it out to be. Since she's currently campaigning for reelection, and transportation is one of the areas her opponent, Jim Torrey, has faulted her on in campaign ads, it felt especially prone to bias and inappropriate. Ebolamunkee (talk) 06:12, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't looked at the edit history to see who has contributed to this article, so I'm not blaming anyone in particular, and I also realize that {{sofixit}} applies, but I just have to note that: This article is a piece of crap. Especially in light of the fact that I'm sure there are many reliable third party souces that can be cited. Wikipedia is not a battleground and this looks silly with what basically amounts to a "pro-Kitty" section and an "anti-Kitty" section. Katr67 (talk) 19:36, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
