Pronouns

[edit]

It seems that she/her is used for Kiruko, but the fact remains that Kiruko's brain was originally from a male. So should it be female?

Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Gender identity says that the pronouns used should be the pronouns that the subject self-identifies as (unless they are neopronouns. Does anyone who has read or watched the manga or anime know what Kiruko self-identifies as? Sangsangaplaz (Talk to me! I'm willing to help) 04:25, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That's the part that is killing me because there are times Kiruko uses her female identity to talks with Maru in the beginning and in other occasions the male. At first Kiruko acts like she is female but when Maru confesses his love, she replies that Kiruko is actually a man. She claims that their chemistry only exists because they are male. In a latter episode when Kiruko is taking a bath, Kiruko simply walks off without any shame of being naked claiming he is Haruki. From that point it seems Kiruko addressed themself as a male but there are other similar situations like when she meets Toru that Kiruko uses Japanese male words like Ore which causes Maru to correct her to use Watashi (women use this in Japanese) to keep her disguise of "Kiriko". The only time Ishiguro addressed the character's gender identiy is in the creation section where it goes: "Kiruko represents a gradation of spiritual sexuality." https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interview/2023-09-25/crafting-a-hell-in-heaven-with-heavenly-delusion-creator-masakazu-ishiguro/.201179 Feel fee to revise or correct me anything I did wrong though. Maybe they/them might work no? Sangsangaplaz (Talk to me! I'm willing to help) 12:09, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Pronouns

[edit]

To avoid confusion i recommend just using they/them due to the fact that the character has a female body and a brain that originates from a male. It seems like all the article is already changed to this but if there are any outliers, try fixing them. I'll search for them myself. Sangsangaplaz (Talk to me! Thanks. I already gave it a revision after the chat. Tintor2 (talk) 19:02, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Sangsangaplaz: Anything wrong in real life? If you don't have the time to review the article, I'll ask for another user's help in the nominations. I understand this time of the year is the one where people are busier.Tintor2 (talk) 01:08, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I'm just very busy but I'll complete it asap. School exams just finished. Sangsangaplaz (Talk to me! I'm willing to help) 12:53, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Article Size and formatting

[edit]

2310 words seem to be a bit short, but I have to ask for a second opinion. But what I have noticed is that most if not all the paragraphs are way too long. I recommend 4-6 lines at most (accounting for the images, 5-8).

@Sangsangaplaz: If I were to expand the article with more in-universe information it would get called wp:fancruft while further reception would futher bother the inclusion policy.Tintor2 (talk) 15:57, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am using Resident Evil FAs articles like Claire Redfield and Ada Wong as models. Some months ago, I recreated Ryo Sakazaki but it was nearly deleted because despite the size of the reception it didn't have notable sources so I had cut such reception and focus only on vital ones. I did the same with Kiruko as if I were to use every episode review, it could also become wp:undue weight.Tintor2 (talk) 16:41, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Understandable, I'm trying to get a second opinion on this But could you tackle my second point? Sangsangaplaz (Talk to me! I'm willing to help) 06:45, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Toned down some paragraphs now that you mention it Tintor2 (talk) 18:05, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Tintor2 asked me to provide a second opinion on the length; I have not touched the article, read the manga, or interacted frankly much at all in this space, though I have written 135 GAs. That said, this is... a completely normal length for an article? I'm a little baffled that a reviewer would think it's too short on the face of it, as opposed to feeling like there's a specific aspect that's not discussed in enough depth. There's no specific guidlines for how long an article needs to be to be a GA, but even if there were this would be fine.
In regards to paragraph length, the general guideline is 4-6 sentences (ish). It's not a firm guideline and you can fudge it with extra-long or extra-short sentences, but that's usually where they should stay. "Line count" is a poor metric, as different screen sizes have different line widths. The current 2-sentence paragraphs are a bit too short, as a result, and some of the prior 8-sentence ones (and the current first paragraph in "Role in Heavenly Delusion") were/are a bit long. That paragraph is actually longer than that, given the sentence that has two semicolons (which should just be chopped in half at the first semicolon). --PresN 02:25, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I'm just used to seeing long GA articles. I'm pretty new so yeah. Sangsangaplaz (Talk to me! I'm willing to help) 07:19, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
