[edit]I think that the external link placed (http://www.kiranbedi.com/main.htm) in the article is like a commercial link, though it has useful information about Kiran Bedi. Should the link continue? Comments are requested. --Bhadani 13:30, 24 July 2005 (UTC) It pops up when I typed "indian policewoman 1972" into Google, and seems to be quasi-official, although the site does not state so openly. It seems to be sincere enough, and I can't find a good replacement, so let's leave it in.-Ashley Pomeroy 20:17, 12 August 2005 (UTC)Anyway, that is fine - let it be there until something better can be "discovered". --Bhadani 11:25, 13 August 2005 (UTC)

Article needed to be reviewed for correction
[edit]Dear Team Wikipedia,
I, Sreejith G Pillai, am frequent visitor of site wikipedia.org and would like to thank you to provide information about all the topics I need to know.
I would like to report about some possibility of error in an article on Inidan Retd. IPS officer Kiran Bedi.
In the coloumn of her Career it has been mentioned that she expressed her wish for voluntarily retire on 27th Nov 2007, that was accepted by Govt. of India on 25th Dec 2007 and then in next next para its mentioned that after her retirement she launched a website on January 3 2007. If she was retired in Dec 2007 then after retirement cannot be Jan 2007. Since, I do not have much information about this I would like to request you for an enquiry on the same for the required changes to be done.
......"On 27 November 2007, she had expressed her wish to voluntarily retire from the police force to undertake new challenges in life. On 25 December 2007, the Government of India agreed to relieve Bedi of her duties as Director General of the Bureau of Police Research and Development. "Yes Madam, Sir", an award-winning, critically acclaimed film of Kiran Bedi's life, directed by Australian director, Megan Doneman, premiered as an official selection at the Toronto International Film Festival. It has yet to be released. After retirement, Kiran Bedi launched a new website, www.saferindia.com, on January 3, 2007. The motto of this website is to help people whose complaints are not accepted by the local police. This project is undertaken by the non-profit, voluntary and non-government organization she founded, the India Vision Foundation.[1] "....With a hope that my mail will be taken into cosideration.
Thanks & Regards,
Sreejith G Pillai — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.98.190.200 (talk) 20:20, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
The mentioned daughters are of her father and mother not her....?
[edit]Among her other three siblings, Shashi is an artist settled in Canada, Reeta is a clinical psychologist and writer, and Anu is a lawyer. Kiran Bedi's daughter Saina is also involved in community service. Can it be changed?

An irresponsible addition
[edit]The following line in the biography should be either justified or deleted altogether :
When Kiran Bedi was posted in Mizoram, she got her daughter admitted to MBBS by unfair means.
For a person who has always stood up against corruption, such a statement is a highly irresponsible and almost unacceptable.
I request an inquiry into the same.
Thank you Nupur Ghuliani

Following Criticisms can be added
[edit]1. In July 2007, Bedi proceeded on a three-month ‘protest leave’ when she was overlooked for the Delhi commissioner’s post. Bedi claimed she was a victim of gender bias, and declared that she was weighing all ‘options including legal’. She instead suddenly changed her mind, cancelled her leave, resumed office and finally applied for voluntary retirement. from: http://www.firstpost.com/politics/delhi-elections-dear-bjp-what-about-kiran-bedis-past-as-a-bhagora-2049551.html
2. Karan Thapar had asked her following questions when she didn't turn up for interview: “To begin with, you've received neither the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service nor the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service. Given that these are routinely awarded after completing a certain number of years of service, isn't your not getting them proof that your record is neither meritorious nor distinguished?
Secondly, is it true that on 4 separate occasions you failed to complete your tenure and at least twice left your post without permission which is tantamount to desertion of duty? (She didn't complete her tenure as Superintendent of Police in Goa, DIG (Range) in Mizoram, Inspector General (Prisons) Tihar Jail and Inspector General of Police in Chandigarh. The posts that she left without permission were Goa, in 1983, and Mizoram, in 1992. Speaking to the Sunday Observer on the 27th September, 1992, she said of Mizoram: "I left without asking". Her letter of 25th January, 1984 to the Inspector General of Police in Goa, Mr Rajendra Mohan, establishes that she left on leave that had not been sanctioned. from:http://www.hindustantimes.com/news-feed/columnskaranthapar/ten-questions-for-kiran-bedi/article1-240600.aspx#sthash.mWRZS3eu.dpuf%20
3. In 1990, Bedi was indicted by an enquiry committee headed by Justice DP Wadhwa for gross irregularities in dealing with a strike by Tis Hazari lawyers in Delhi. In a damning indictment of her role, the committee said the lathi-charge on agitating lawyers ordered by Kiran Bedi, the then deputy commissioner of police (north), a week after the incident was "indiscriminate and unjustified".
Worse, it declared that Bedi had connived with a municipal councilor in organising and transporting a mob to Tiz Hazari who then assaulted the lawyers. Bedi maintained that she was discriminated against during the enquiry. But it was accepted by the home ministry and tabled in the Parliament with an assurance to lawyers that Bedi will never be posted in Delhi in any important position. from: http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/kiran-bedi-idicted-in-tiz-hazari-episode/1/315124.html
4. People of the state Mizoram poured into the streets when it was revealed that Bedi had secured her daughter’s admission to an MBBS course in Delhi’s Lady Hardinge College under the Mizoram quota. Bedi argued that she was within her rights to avail the quota since she was at that time posted in Mizoram. But protesters claimed the purpose of the reservation was to ensure local students get its benefit and Bedi had taken advantage of a loophole in the law. When Mizoram became too hot to handle, Bedi once again left. Incidentally, her daughter also dropped out of the course later. from:
5. Kiran Bedi sees her being passed up for Delhi Police Commissioner post as a political decision. "The party in power at that time was the UPA," she said. Regardless of the reason, the slight was never forgotten. Many believe it is what drives her even today."They must be regretting it," she said. "But you know what they did? They set me free." from:http://www.ndtv.com/delhi-news/truth-vs-hype-as-she-plunges-into-politics-the-kiran-bedi-legend-comes-under-scrutiny-731873
6. Allegations were levelled against Bedi, a key member of Team Anna, that she used her gallantry medal to get 75 per cent discount on Air India tickets and then submitted inflated invoices and that of business class to claim full fare from the organisers who had invited her to the function. from: http://www.oneindia.com/2011/10/20/corrupt-kiran-bedi-clear-air-ticket-row-twitter-account.html
7. The lady who felt that the danger of fascist rule was looming large over political horizon of India and the Narendra Modi Government was actively engineering the communal riots, after 13 years feels that the same Modi is worth fighting for as he gave the people ‘hope’.
