Egibility
[edit]User:Onel5969 User:Premeditated Chaos if either if you can explain why the Elgibility section was mostly deleted that'd be great. The same source was used on the article Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal [1] and every similar article. The section was removed without adequate explanation. - I believe it was a question of Copyvio. Unfortunately because the diffs have been expunged, you cannot see what the notice stated exactly. Sorry. The joy of all things (talk) 16:10, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Nford24 the wording is blatantly taken from this government source (please see this Earwig comparison if you are still in doubt). Unlike in the US, documents produced by the UK government are not automatically public domain, so we cannot simply copy their wording. Please don't re-add it again except in your own words. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 10:43, 7 May 2023 (UTC)
- How come this has never been an issue, especially for every honours list. You’re overreaching. Nford24 (PE121 Personnel Request Form) 21:11, 7 May 2023 (UTC)

Canadian medallions/medals
[edit]The status of the medallions/medals is unclear. They're called both medals and medallions; though, they appear to be the latter, as they have no ribbon nor mode of wear. They're not made by the Royal Canadian Mint, but, they were approved by the King and made "exclusively for Canada". One might wonder if these are what the PM was referring to when he said Canada would issue medals for the coronation; however, the number of medallions made doesn't match the number of medals Trudeau promised. Given all that... fuzzy overlap, this seemed the best place to put information about them. If someone's got another suggestion... --₪ MIESIANIACAL 20:43, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- The status remains unclear, not cancelled (at least from what I've gathered, the hold up concerns a disagreement between the Royal Household and the GoC over the design of the obverse, but there is no source to cite that). In saying that, no source has ever indicated its cancellation, let alone an official one stating such. So an ambiguous statement that is reflective of information currently available is better than an unsupported (and assertive) claim like
The Canadian medal was never made
. - Concerning the coronation medallion made by the CHM, these are clearly different items, as the one the GoC announced clearly indicates it is a state award, while these are made for consumer purchase. The fact it's made for consumers is why I also think that topic is more appropriate for the "Emblem and commemorative items" section in Coronation of Charles III and Camilla#Canada section, as opposed to an article that is more focused on state awards. In saying that, I'll defer to other editors to decide where they think this content would be most appropriate. Leventio (talk) 21:06, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- Well, one can only wonder how "the design of the Canadian medal has yet to be released" will read in 2028, 2030, 2035... It seems doubtful anyone will ever announce the project is dead. The PM's promise has already been just... forgotten. (If the medals were still in the works, someone involved would've said so by now.) Anyway, I've left the wording in the article as it was.
- I do realize the medallions (let's, for our own purposes, stick to that term for these commemorative items) were made for purchase, as opposed to made by the RCM as honours from the Crown. However, they are described as medals, as well as medallions, in the sources and are, so far (and I'll wager always will be), the only Charles III coronation "medals" issued in Canada. Hence, I get they don't snugly fit into this article, yet, they still seem to partially belong here. I see now they were already briefly mentioned at Coronation of Charles III and Camilla#Emblem and commemorative items. I suppose it's, then, a matter of where does the bulk of the info on them go--here, with a short mention there, or there, with a sentence here? --₪ MIESIANIACAL 05:15, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- Presuming the medal is still not issued by 2025 and beyond, I would assume some reporter would mention the medal's absence at some point (its a rather niche thing, but the annoucement of an award of this kind and its failure to be materialized would eventually be noticed, akin the Plat Jubilee medal issue). Once that source is avalible, we can properly include the details in kind.
- Concerning the medallion, my personal preference would be having the glut of the content in the primary article, but its not something I feel to strongly about, so I'll defer to the opinion of others on this. Leventio (talk) 21:54, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not sure this talk page gets a lot of traffic... Anyhow, after a bit of thought on it, I agree with you. I've moved the info to the article on the coronation. --₪ MIESIANIACAL 07:23, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
