Why use "but" in this sentence?

[edit]

"Kieron Adrian Pollard (born 12 May 1987) is an international cricketer who plays for the West Indies but was born in Trinidad and Tobago."

I don't quite grasp why the use of "but". TnT is part of the West Indies so why is it "but"?

Infobox stats

[edit]

I think Pollard is a clear case where we should get rid of his first-class stats and insert his domestic T20 stats instead. He has played 27 first-class matches, compared to 518(!) T20 matches, so to me it is pretty obvious which is more useful to the reader. Thoughts? Harrias (he/him) • talk 10:26, 9 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that makes sense - the only danger is that they require regularly updating.
It might also make sense to remove teams that he's only played for in one season from the ib. That tends to keep things a little more manageable. Blue Square Thing (talk) 10:54, 9 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, but I don't think that it is vitally important that it is always 100% up to date. I was also considering removing his shirt number from teams that he isn't currently playing for to cut down on the length: it only seems useful information for his active teams. (Also, all but once he has used #55, so it isn't adding much.) Harrias (he/him) • talk 10:59, 9 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, def. have his T20 stats in place of his FC ones. He hasn't played a FC since March 2015 too. I did a similar bold change on Rashid Khan's article not too long ago. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 11:45, 10 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
