Why?

[edit]

This person is insignificant in literally every respect. He belongs as a single sentence in an article about the protests at Columbia perhaps, but a biography?

What are his publications? What provably significant movement has he begun and led? What accomplishments does he have that would register in any way whatsoever? 74.64.143.105 (talk) 19:41, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@74.64.143.105 absolutely agree. this person is a single undergraduate who got some media attention for comments they made 4 months ago. this does not meet the wiki standard for notoriety. Supreme Chungus (talk) 19:56, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. 2601:981:4402:E0C0:21F9:3C75:4E08:4782 (talk) 21:44, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
agree, but in spirit of fairness, would wait a few weeks before starting WP:AFD..
I have personal opinions that WP:BLP might be violated, especially WP:AVOIDVICTIM since this guy is only well known for the media circus he has caused with his recordings. User:Sawerchessread (talk) 17:57, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
meh, i nominated it for deletion anyways. User:Sawerchessread (talk) 21:55, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
By this logic, how could nearly any student ever have a Wiki page - the likelihood of a undergraduate being published in a notable way is basically nil.
I wonder if it's prudent for the wiki be left for at least a few months. It's certainly possible that this individual continues to be noteworthy, & who knows whether it will be strictly related to this event. Dlobr (talk) 23:50, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not worthy of an article

[edit]

A footnote at best with a notable status that will diminish daily with every news cycle. Please remove 2600:1012:A11A:3528:2513:AEA5:48C3:BDE0 (talk) 00:53, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This guy's life goal is to be in congress. He wants all white people dead. He says all physical fights he gets into he intends to kill the other person. Voters have the right to know who they are voting for and employers have the right to know who they are hiring. Actions have consequences. The consequences of his actions should stay with this guy for the rest of his life. He was paid $38,000 to damage students education ... and then he is going to expect his student loans to be forgiven. 109.186.44.251 (talk) 08:29, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Life goals are not definitive actions, and this person is not a candidate for anything. This page is thoroughly summarized by a variety of news articles. A Wikipedia page only emboldens a stance that is already publicly searchable. Also, there is a lack of notability. Mra42 (talk) 16:03, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How is this not a WP:BLP1E violation? Llacb47 (talk) Llacb47 (talk) 19:58, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

1. Sources go back through his whole public service life.
2. His life goal is to be on Congress.
3. Causing a whole university to shut down during final exams and graduation is not a no big deal thing. He was paid $38,000 to do it.
Counter arguments to all three points in what you brought up. 109.186.44.251 (talk) 08:34, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please cite a source for the $38,000 claim? Remember, WP:BLP applies to talk pages as well. -- Slugger O'Toole (talk) 12:59, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I literally asked one question, I didn't have three points. Anyway, I doubt you knew who this person was before April 2024. Llacb47 (talk) 04:08, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

“ He is most known for leading the 2024 Columbia University pro-Palestinian campus occupation” needs to be edited to say “ He is most known for leading the 2024 Columbia University pro-Palestinian campus occupation, and proclaiming that he “feels comfortable calling for the death of all zionists.” He is not known for being a protestor- but for those specific inflammatory remarks and they should be noted here. 67.81.141.24 (talk) 17:32, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

done. User:Sawerchessread (talk) 00:32, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
