Removal of Picture

[edit]

Whomever,

I recetly went through all the processes to add my personally shot, well edited and very well taken portrait of Kevin Rudolf. The picture was a great depiction of him by showing his face as well as him playing the guitar. Why was this taken of? I have full rights to this photo and would like to know what happened to it.

Thanks, V —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vampiremonster (talkcontribs) 23:11, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Holiday56's reverts

[edit]

To Holiday56,

I... and at least one other editor apparently... have made an edit to this page at least 3 times... and each time, Holihyh day56 has come and deleted my entry. The edit i have made concerned Kevin Rudolf's involvement in the work of another artist in whom I am interested, Kevin Lyttle. I know for a fact, and so does itunes and multiple other sources, that Kevin Rudolf was involved in Kevin Lyttle's recent work "Something About You", as I indicated in my edit. So my question to you Holiday56 is, why are you deleting the edit I am making? Do you dispute the factual nature of my edit?

Thanks.

Oh, sorry about that. My computer is having some errors, and when I edit Wikipedia at these points it deletes. Got it fixed/ Anyway, it's finally back, so there. Sorry for any distress I've caused you. Good day. Holiday56 (talk) 02:13, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Page Protect

[edit]

why don't we ask for Page protection for this Page. DJ Yung Dre 00:06, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

That is something we are obviously going to have to do. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DennyHits (talkcontribs) 22:03, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I assume you are both referring to another editor's repeated addition of the unsourced (then weakly sourced) claim that Rudolf was Binocular. I don't think page protection was needed on this issue, as it seems to have been one registered user -- so Talk page warnings, escallating to a block if needed, could do the job. In any case, I have re-added the Binocular info, based on cites to Warner Chappell and MTV. - SummerPhD (talk) 19:31, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Without discussion or explaiantion, someone removed all of the content mentioned, including the sources. I have reverted the removal and await discussion. - SummerPhD (talk) 21:29, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is not the wikipedia page for Binocular, this page is for recording artist Kevin Rudolf. The pages you so-called "sourced", not only did they NOT match the spelling of KEVIN RUDOLF but they were no where near the proof needed to make such a claim. Anyone can claim someone did something and make a web page about it, but without proof coming directly from the Artists' representation (Record Label, Management, Publicist, Agent) or a press release, than it doesn't contain any concrete truth behind it. You should read Kevin Rudolf's biography on his website if you would like to know his history. I don't see anything regarding this rock band Binocular there. The website is www.KevinRudolf.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.70.78.190 (talkcontribs) 06:28, 6 January 2009

First, you removed the edit claiming there were "NO CITATIONS OR REFERENCES linking recording artist Kevin Rudolf to the rock band Binocular. Not even one citation links the 2 names." When there were two cites given. Then, you removed the heavily cited info without comment. Twice. Then you remove it, simply calling it an "erroneous edit". Twice. Now, finally you explain that "The pages you so-called "sourced", not only did they NOT match the spelling of KEVIN RUDOLF". (Emphasis added.) Let's take a look. Kevin Rudolf's Biography spells it "Kevin Rudolf". Warner Chappell Music. "search for writer(s) Binocular" spells it "Kevin Rudolf". Warner Chappell Music. "song(s) by the selected artist BINOCULAR" spells it "Kevin Rudolf". MTV. "lyrics: Don't Say Goodbye, Say Goodnight" spells it "Kevin Rudolf". Granted, the blog originally cited misspelled it "Rudolph". That's one. Great. It's a blog, not a reliable source. MTV and Warner Chappell, however, are reliable sources and match the spelling.
Contrary to your further claim, we do not need to hear from Rudolf or his representatives that he recorded as "Binocular". Much like reporting poor sales, bad reviews or other negative info about an artist, we cannot expect to hear the full, unvarnished truth from anyone about themselves. Rather, we must source claims to reliable sources. MTV and Warner Chappell certainly qualify.
I am unsure why you, an anonymous editor, feel so strongly about distancing Rudolf's current rough-and-tumble Rock image from his softer Adult Contemporary past. Whatever. We have what we need. (I do agree, however, with your statement that we might need to move to page protection here. I just think semi-protection, to force users involved to use registered accounts, would be the first move.)
I will briefly await further discussion before re-adding the properly sourced information that Kevin Rudolf previously recorded as the very different "Binocular". - SummerPhD (talk) 13:37, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I stand corrected, I know exactly why you feel so strongly. - SummerPhD (talk) 14:00, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am not the only one who has been removing that information from this wikipedia, if you go through the history you will see over 3 registered and un-registered accounts that have removed this information. I'm sorry I do not see any of this information on Kevin Rudolf's life biography. Regardless if its blogged about, I just haven't seen any concrete citations proving this information. You can go to www.KevinRudolf.com to read his Full Life Biography if you would like to know more about his previous work, none of which lists anything to do with this rock band Binocular. Regarding this discussion we're having, as we all know Rudolf is coming out with a new single shortly and I see that you are a strong supporter of his as am I, I hope that we can both support him together this year as the world will once again have a new reason to check this wikipedia. If you go thru and read almost all of the facts regarding Rudolf throughout publications, news articles, critics, and simple discussions around the world, most of them have come directly out of this wikipedia page. Therefore it is very important that this page is kept up to date with concrete facts and citations that don't leave anything up to guessing. Thank you again in advance for your help SummerPHD. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.70.78.190 (talk) 15:48, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Let me be perfectly clear. In addition to your edits, I see these editors removing it: 24.172.50.26, 71.70.78.156, DennyHits and others by those same editors. None of those are you? - SummerPhD (talk) 16:21, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
On second thought, don't answer that here. Just take it right to the sock puppetry case here. - SummerPhD (talk) 16:47, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kevin Rudolf Previous Work

[edit]

I am infuriated by individuals constantly editing the page to remove all mention of Kevin Rudolf's previous work under the name Binocular, with which he released an album in 2001. I can only guess that it's people involved with the artist, worried that this work would damage his new image. I seek support for this from others. A simple websearch would show this is the truth, not to mention the obvious similarity of voice and likeness! "This article must adhere to the policy on biographies of living persons. Controversial material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately, especially if potentially libellous."
Those are the rules of WIKIPEDIA. Now with that said, SummerPHD and whoever else keeps putting unverifiable and extremely poorly sourced information in this article (in which the spelling of Kevin Rudolf's name is even incorrect) needs to stop. This is not your playground to have fun and experiment in. I can't even count the number of users that have erased the completely unverifiable information you keep putting in here SummerPHD.—Preceding unsigned comment added by CashMoney09 (talkcontribs) 20:32, 6 January 2009
Given that you are a completely new editor (ahem!), of the sources you deleted, which one had the name spelled with a ph? - SummerPhD (talk) 20:55, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia would be so much bigger if it wasn't so precautionary and didn't have so many rules. It already has the public reputation of "unverifiable" and "unsourced materalized". Behind the scenes of all that (talk pages, editing, etc.) it is probably considered worse, amongst appropriate words/phrases such as "annoying", "limited" and "too much to bother".
Wikipedia should let off on its rules. I used to admire and look up to Wikipedia for its information and web design. But now I see that it is simply an encyclopedia created by the efforts of mods occasionally manning this place and everyone writing this thing. The mods gave us rules that we must follow, and then we go from there. And then they would block people for repeatedly adding useful information that is original research. Did you know that everything is original research? The rules are implying that the person who added that is automatically wrong. It's ridiculous.
Someone may tell me that what I said does not go in this section. I'm simply responding to a response on a talk page. In my opinion, it's legal and necessary. Isn't my opinion just as good as anyone else's? --Zzguitar14 (talk) 04:56, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Singles

[edit]

As a rule of thumb, wikipedia lists all released singles for an artist, whether they have charted or not. If there is no discussion, I will add them in the next few days. If there is discussion, I will direct you to the appropriate guidelines. - SummerPhD (talk) 20:07, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"worked with"

[edit]

Who he has "worked with" is vague. We need some idea of what this was. I have "worked with" a lot of people. Some have co-authored articles with me after working with me on research projects for a year or so. Others probably couldn't pick me out of a line-up. - SummerPhD (talk) 20:07, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RIAA Certification

[edit]

An editor using IP address 71.70.78.190 has repeatedly changed the RIAA certification of platinum (as sourced) to the unsourced claim that it is double platinum. The editor has corresponded with me on my talk page, but refuses to the discuss the issue: the addition of unsourced material in place of sourced information. Unless there is compelling discussion regarding this issue, I will again revert this edit. If the editor again removes the sourced platinum for an unsourced double platinum, I will request that ze be blocked from editing. - SummerPhD (talk) 17:32, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Page protection...again

[edit]

I seriously think the main page should be protected so that only established users can edit it. As stated above, countless vanadalism attacks such as the removal of RIAA certification, and also like this, which I reverted when it appeared. IPs need to go away! ;) EnDaLeCoMpLeX (talk) 03:33, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted text 2 March 2009

[edit]

I have again removed this text: ""Let It Rock" has sold more than 2.5 Million downloads on iTunes alone as of February 25, 2009. .<ref>{{cite web |url=http://top40-charts.com/news/Tour-Dates/Cash-Moneys-Kevin-Rudolf-To-Let-It-Rock-On-First-Headlining-Tour-Presented-By-Live-Nation/46536.html|title=Universal Republic Official Press Release |accessdate=2009-02-25 |last=Rudolf |first=Kevin |date=2009-02-25 |work=Press Release}}</ref>"

As before, I did this for two reasons, both detailed at WP:BADCHARTS.
1)"iTunes: Charts pertaining to only one specific retailer should not be used."
2)"Web sites to avoid: top40-charts.com".
Thanks. - SummerPhD (talk) 13:57, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite?

[edit]

This article must be rewritten, it is filled with fan-kind of text, not in the standards of an encyclopedia. Does anyone agree? At least Shirsch1229 seems to be always here to make pointless edits to the article (his personal opinions). --MrEskola (talk) 22:03, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. The sentence "As a bond grew and new musical boundaries were broken, the brothers concluded that signing Rudolf on to the Cash Money team was destiny" is simply unsubstantiated color, not factual descriptions. Can it be flagged for rewrite? I'm happy to hit it this week. Justinlaine (talk) 13:53, 22 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
