To do a Martin

[edit]

"Martin is known for his ability to pull off near-impossible shots in complex situations, to the degree where other curlers have been using the expression "to do a Martin", meaning to attempt such a shot." Well, this doesn't seem very encyclopedic to me. And I don't think "do a martin" + curling googles very well. Unless someone comes up with some really good arguments for keeping it, I think it should go. Greswik (talk) 08:43, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Update, talking to myself: I took it away. I think it is unencyclopedic, and I wasn't impressed by the g-results. Greswik (talk) 22:26, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
Before I start reviewing, please cite every paragraph in the career section.
The lead is a little bit short. Has he set any records? Was he included in a "Curling Hall of Fame"?
This article has a strong potential to be promoted, and I am happy to see the first GA about a curler, but it needs some work in referencing, so I am putting this on hold before I resume.
Are the additions made adequate? Thanks! Prayerfortheworld (talk) 04:36, 1 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    The prose is very good
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
All references should contain the publisher and the accessdate
    References are otherwise reliable
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall: Very nice article! --GoPTCN 11:22, 4 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lougheed

[edit]

The town Lougheed, Alberta is not referred to by name in the article. This is the town where he grew up and first learned to curl on a 2-sheeter.
