"Many layers to his game"

Making fun of an individual's name is a violation of WP:BLP. Attempts to add that or similar jokes will result in a block.

I agree. Sometimes, it really does feel like there's a dedicated "fun police" of users who make it their mission to remove all traces of humor from articles, even when it conforms to policy and doesn't harm the article itself at all, a la the removal of "Guy Standing sitting." I was under the impression there was no such consensus, as per WP:LOL. Although this itself isn't an actual policy, I've also never seen any policy describing such a prohibition, so from my perspective, this seems less like one and more like your personal preference. Of course, if such a policy does exist, and I've simply missed it somehow, then that's fair- but without one, it seems unreasonable to state Wikipedia does or does not participate in anything based off your preferences, administrator or not. I would agree if the following two things weren’t the case: 1) if one wouldn’t describe another player’s skill set as multilayered, and 2) if his skill set was not multilayered. But one would use that descriptor elsewhere and his skills are, in fact, multilayered. personally, i don't think it belongs here. although a little joke here and there is ok, the guidelines of Wikipedian writing come first, and him having many layers to his style seems like a very subjective observation to me. JumboDS64 (talk) 20:30, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I just expressed an opinion on a talk page of the 'free encyclopedia'. Let's talk about the matter itself, instead of doing some weird process to intentions. You seem to be the only one on this talk page that sees that as a joke. The second comment on this talk page explicitly describes this matter as "harmless humour" and had multiple editors agreeing with them, so that's clearly not true. If this was a different type of article I might well agree with the "it's just a joke" crowd (or at least I might not care enough to comment), but this is a BLP, and BLP content requires the highest degree of care.
