Q: Why is Kermit Gosnell referred to as a serial killer?
A: A serial killer is anyone who has killed two or more people in separate events.[1][2] Kermit Gosnell was charged for more than seven counts of murder and hundreds of abortion-related crimes. He was convicted for the first-degree murder of three infants and the third-degree murder of a woman. The intact bodies of 47 illegally aborted late-term human fetuses/babies were discovered by police stored around Gosnell's clinic.[3] Gosnell is referred to as a serial killer and/or murderer in numerous sources.[4][5][6][7]
Q: Why are the number of victims at 48+?
A: The number of victims has remained at 48+ due to the fact that 47 illegally aborted fully-developed human fetuses/babies, some of which were killed after birth, were found stored in bags and cartons at Gosnell's clinic. Gosnell was convicted for even more violations of abortion laws, but 47 has remained as the number due to it being the number of discovered bodies in the 2010 raid.[8][9] The 48 accounts for all 47 bodies found along with the woman killed by Gosnell. The + accounts for the hundreds of other possible victims of infanticide that staff testified were born and then murdered by Gosnell.

I tend to agree with OP, these images are highly disturbing and do little to enhance the quality of the article (the text does this fine) and is disrespectful to the victims. I don't believe that it is censorship to suggest that graphic crime scene photography is not necessary for each murderer on Wikipedia. 49.199.197.91 (talk) 03:47, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think according to the manual of style, removal is justifiable as the do not add anything informative to the article that is not already mentioned in the text. True crime Wikipedia articles usually do not contain graphic close up images of victims. Oddbard (talk) 01:32, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
