Page title?
[edit]Should this page be renamed to become Kerala Brethren, with a capital B, as in Plymouth Brethren? DFH (talk) 19:22, 9 December 2008 (UTC) :There is a source for the proposed spelling:http://www.keralabrethren.net/Sarcelles (talk) 11:08, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
Style and citations
[edit]The general style of the main article needs further improving, and the factual reporting of events could be improved by providing properly cited references (include actual page numbers) to the sources listed in the later section. DFH (talk) 19:38, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Jargon
[edit]Phrases such as "accepted the Lord", though common in Christian parlance, seem somewhat out of place in an encyclopedia article. I'm sure that members of the Kerala project team can give due consideration to finding better alternatives. DFH (talk) 19:45, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Indian place names
[edit]Someone with the necessary geographical knowledge could transform all the Indian place-names to wikilinks, providing there are articles for each. Spellings vary a lot for Anglicised place-names, so proper care is need to ensure correct identifications. DFH (talk) 19:53, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Bias
[edit]The article, particularly the sections on the history of Christianity in India, seem heavily biased toward the Brethren's view of history (i. e., they claim that the first churches in India were organized in a fashion similar to the Brethren, and that the Brethren's own practices are an authentic revival of the early church, neither opinion of which is universally held; I'm sure members of the Mar Thoma churches in India would strongly disagree with the sentiments in the article, for instance). A balanced perspective is needed. LonelyBoy2012 (talk) 07:41, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
- I agree. This article is written from a one-sided POV. I've made a start trying to clean it up. David Cannon (talk) 13:39, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
Cleanup
[edit]I've begun cleaning this article up. It's poorly-written and full of POV. I intend to do most of the cleaning up over the weekend, but I've made a small start already. I intend to reorient the article towards a neutral point of view, fix the sometimes childish phraseology, and back up the remaining claims with citations. Please bear with me for a few days — this article is likely to get more messy before it gets better, as I tend to edit incrementally. David Cannon (talk) 13:43, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
- I'm doing a bit more cleaning up tonight. I've found that some of the information in this article is not about the Kerala Brethren at all, but actually belongs to the wider Indian Brethren movement outside of Kerala. I will reorganize that accordingly. David Cannon (talk) 09:28, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
Deliberate misinformation
[edit]There is a concerted attempt to confuse history. There was no Kerala anywhere in recorded history.
Travancore one location and Malabar was another. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2405:204:D40B:6601:D09B:4E25:EA63:6E8A (talk) 09:37, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
