Has Kenneth Anger been doing any films lately? Seems he's been pretty quiet for a while. J
- Well, he's been sending cease-and-desist letters to Ulver! Apart from that, I don't think he's been doing anything productive. --Delirium 07:23, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
first film in 1941, when he was 14? How can this be?
He made a movie called "Mouse Heaven" which he is currently showing around.
New works
Kenneth Anger's done a few movies recently: The Man We Want To Hang (abt. the art of Aleister Crowley), Elliott's Suicide (about the suicide of musician Elliott Smith), Anger Sees Red, a stop smoking film, and Mouse Heaven (a film using old old mickey mouse figures). Also, I've heard rumors that he's been having mental health problems recently, including trying to strangle someone, but I can't find any sources other than gossip. Beausoleil
I had heard the stories regarding Bobby Beausoleil stealing the Lucifer Rising film but I recall reading in recent years that Anger himself admitted he made it up, and that he hadn't even shot that much footage (most of what he had shot eventually ended up in Invocation). I can't find a source offhand, so I didn't delete it from the article. I should also point out that the source for that info in the article (an uncredited NME piece from 1977) is riddled with inaccuracies and misinformation. I'll return when I can back this up with cold hard facts.Closenplay 01:37, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Text removed from article
In this edit the text below was removed from the article with the edit summary of "rm uncited bogus claim":
- In the mid-1980s, Anger sold a 16mm print of the incomplete Lucifer Rising, containing the Page soundtrack, to Christopher Dietler, who eventually released the soundtrack taken from film on an album titled Kenneth Anger's Lucifer Rising Jimmy Page Soundtrack. Anger filed a lawsuit and won an injunction against Dietler who turned over the digitally enhanced master and agreed not to press or sell anymore record albums.

Histoire d'O - Peugeot Kidnapping
Hello. I'm new to Wikipedia. I was wondering if I could add an interesting story that Anger told me in an interview last year here. He claimed that the initial financing of the "Story of O" project came from the boyfriend of the 18 year old girl he cast in the leading role. The project had to dropped however when it emerged that the boyfriend was involved in the notorious Peugeot Kidnappings and the funding came from ransom money!
Does anyone know anything about this? I will try and dig up some references myself but if there is no reliable evidence, could the story be added anyway if introduced as "Anger has claimed [ref] that the financing....". Thoughts?D.Moats2010 (talk) 17:10, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Influential?
Is there even a shred of evidence to support the outrageous claim that Anger is "... one of the most influential independent filmmakers in cinema history...". Even a skerrick? A scintilla? (ANSWER: in 1947, he made a gay-themed film when doing so was illegal, so that alone ensures his place in history. Many top directors have cited him as an influence, and a lot of modern work has themes similar to what he did long before, so yes he's famous-among-the-famous. Hollywood Babylon was a book he could write because he knew firsthand who was closeted. I'd categorize him as an extremely talented Ed Wood).

Watch his films and you'll see the evidence. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.195.225.89 (talk) 15:32, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
Without a doubt he is an interesting figure in experimental and lgbt film history, but this article is clearly bloated with sometimes gossipy, sometimes self-aggrandizing information, mostly cited from one source that is not objective to begin with. I fear that if I began to hold this article up to the standards wikipedia expects on a living person bio, that a edit war would begin. So I am just going to chime in here and say, "yes he is notable, but this article needs a major trim, keeping it to the facts and less the self created myth". And please, if you are going to look at his films, keep it to his "pre-retirement period", or you will be truly disappointed. - User:Cinebuns5000 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cinebuns5000 (talk • contribs) 05:09, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
I wouldn't dismiss his influence. He is the rare man with a clear vision that doesn't duplicate the work of others, and was so far ahead of his time that only now is he beginning to be understood. Hollywood Babylon was one of the first tell-alls ever written, and making an "illegal" film was an act of daring few would ever attempt. If that's not influential, I do not know what is.
"I was entranced by Scorpio Rising when I saw it for the first time, and it’s had a powerful effect on me and my own films over the years. The way Anger used music in that film, in such perfectly magical harmony with the images, opened my thinking about the role music could play in movies. It could become as important to the characters and the world of the film as it was to all of us at the time." - Martin Scorsese Underground Film Journal — Preceding unsigned comment added by Why4duck (talk • contribs) 13:07, 19 October 2019 (UTC)
Thelemite Cite
the page has request for data on Thelema/OTO for Anger. here's something:

Sourcing issues
There is a gross over-reliance on Hunter and Landis as a cursory glance at the references section reveals, and the wording of much of the article, especially in the introduction is completely unencyclopedic and POV. Laval (talk) 06:46, 27 December 2015 (UTC)

Never change, wikipedia
This article is longer than the article about V.S. Naipaul and only a few hundred words shorter than the one about The Big Bang. Hilarious, appalling, predictable. Oh, wikipedia, don't you ever change. Robin J Thomson (talk) 23:59, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
- Feel free to trim it down if you find the article to be excessively long. Not sure what the other articles have to do with it. Different editors work on different pages, and subjects with a lot of text relative to their "importance" tend to be the result of one or maybe a handful of dedicated fans of said subject. From what I can see, there was an attempt at getting Kenneth Anger to FA status over a decade ago. OscarL 22:55, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
