What's in a name?

Why is it called a "kelly" drive? Presumably it was invented by someone with the surname Kelly, or by a company by that name. A bit of history would be helpful in the article, and perhaps some patent references.—Quicksilver^{T @} 19:36, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
