Poorly sourced; reads too much like an advertisement for its subject?
[edit]I'm a bit concerned that, subjectively, this article seems to me like it's been written to be flattering to or promotional of its subject. Here are a couple of examples of sentences that give me that impression:
'Learning to be a friend and mentor to ourselves rather than equating self-control with self-criticism is the attitude that she advocates.'
'Although she is now grateful for their protectiveness, McGonigal says it seemed like "lockdown" at the time, she describes her upbringing as "both good and stressful".'
I notice that many of the citations are direct links to the subject's website (including its "about" page).
Additionally, I visited this page because I was reading the page on psychological theories of self-control, and was surprised to see that an apparent self-help author had a top-level section on that page, at the same level as BF Skinner and the concept of ego depletion, both of which have had very large impacts on the study of self-control.
This is a subjective impression, and although I periodically do WP edits, I'm not an expert in psychology, and I'm not comfortable making a judgment call on whether this is a legitimate concern. But it seemed worth bringing it to other folks' attention. Thanks!
