Hi all. I will be reviewing this article soon. A first look pointed out a number of discrepancies. I'll point them out soon.--Legolas (talk2me) 05:52, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Review List

[edit]
GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose):
Prose is quite weak I must say. WP:UNDUE weightage is being given on the movie appearances in the lead which in no way is encompassing the article. See other points below.
I added a paragraph about the movie to the AI section. - Maria202 (talk) 17:20, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  1. b (MoS):
The whole structure doesnot comply with a BLP. If you are writing a biography then, set aside what can and cannot be added. See below.
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
    a (references):
How is using sources like top-40 and last.fm reliable in any way?
    b (citations to reliable sources):
As i can see, hardly any of the references use WP:Cite web template and many of them fail WP:RS. I advice to go through articles like Madonna, Janet Jackson, Kylie Minogue and Michael Jackson to understand about the sources that can be used.
    c (OR):
Additions are all cited but there are many instances of unreliable sources to cite them. Hence failing its no-original research claim.
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects):
Tends to be undue weightaged from the section on Breakaway and especially the section on My December
    b (focused):
    See above.
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
The only other part alongside the images and edit warring which I found acceptable.
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): {{GAList/check|Green tickY b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:

Pointers

[edit]
  1. Change the format and adhere to a BLP one. Check Janet Jackson, Madonna (entertainer).
    1. Here's the thing. I'm suggesting a definite structure for the BLP. It follows like,
      1982-2001; Early life and education
2002-2004; American Idol, World Idol and Thankful
      2005-2006; Breakaway and television appearances
2007-present; My December and All I Ever Wanted
    2. Also, merge the country music and other appearances in the main biography.--Legolas (talk2me) 03:20, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Merge is done Maria202 (talk) 21:43, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
What I meant was merge them as part of the flowing prose. Again a separate ; for country music is not necessary. Her appearance in country related platformas are all a part of her main career.--Legolas (talk2me) 05:05, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  1. Remove the table at the middle to the end. Breaks the flow.
Done - Maria202 (talk) 16:25, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  1. Merge other appearances in the main flow. Why is it added separately?
I've no idea why it was added separately. Merge is done. Maria202 (talk) 21:43, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  1. Tone down the details about the albums and singles. It way passes the WP:UNDUE borderline.
  2. Format the references using WP:Cite web and WP:Cite news templates.
  3. Check for WP:MoS. Refrain from using # for the chart peaks. Make it words.
