the following sounds like important, tho a bit biased, info regarding the Keita dynasty. It might need to go on the Mali Empire page since it seems historical.

"The Mandingo empire wasn't founded without Fa-Koly Doumbia the adopted nephew of the king Sumanguru Kante.Faly's wife was the best cook in the royal environment which made Sumanguru take his wife from him and marry her. The unhappy nephew who was the general of his army decided to live and call 7 other kings of neighbors small kingdoms to join him,knowing that Sumanguru had several enemies.In between those kings was: Toura-Makan Traore and his companion Diawara,sundiata who was forced to exile was happy to grab the opportunity. But Fakolyy smartly start by killing those kings that was strong supporters of his uncle and had those populations join their army.The last king that he decided to go and kille was the king of Djolof or Djoulofo mansa (senegal).But Tura-Makan asked him to let him take care of that one. The only one who did fight Sumanguru was Fakoly himself knowing all the secrets of his oncle. But right now the Keita descendents are starting to emerge Fakoly's name. The one Sundiata did give honor of their victory was Fakoly for the fact that Fa-Koly told him that he did not fight his uncle to succed him but to show him that he did cross the border. Fakoly told the griots to sing all the honorific songs to sundiata,reason why Sundiata said to him that:Bulla ka mogolandi,Bulla ma fin nandi, meanning :Bulla can love you for who you are but not for interest.That's why the imperial song Djandjun was ordered by Sundiata to sing for Fa-Koly Doumbia. The reason today's people are trying to not talk about Fakoly is because they consider him as a family member of the commun enemy Sumanguru Kante... Bulla was Fakoly's nick name given to him by the griots because of his generosity."
