Medical science chimes in.

[edit]

Impacts and other forceful trauma delivered to the female bosom is proven to signficantly increase the risk of breast cancer, a serious illness that often results in amputation (called masectomy) or even death. That's why lady boxers wear shock absorber bras and even with that, there is talk about cancelling the whole sport due to unmanageable risk.

Therefore it is well-advised to put a short notice in this article, stating Keijo8 isn't just a fictional boob-martial arts farce but a dangerous and potentially lethal one. Hopefully that would deter some selfie-era morons from replicating it in real life just to gain YT views. 92.52.236.216 (talk) 22:44, 8 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No, as that would be original research. Supergodzilla2090 (talk) 23:25, 8 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And WP:NOT#HOWTO. And contradicted by reality. There are already operating leagues (I saw an article on one in Portugal, while researching the RM below). This is certainly less hazardous than most contact sports, since the only goal is to knock someone off balance on a slippery bobbing platform (and the real people doing this seem to be adding hip padding anyway).  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  19:51, 24 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Keijo!!!!!!!!Keijo (manga) – Per MOS:TM, and news sources demonstrating that the real world does not treat this extraneous punctuation pile-up as an integral part of the title. This "!!!!!" stuff is pure marketing stylization, part of a long-running Japanese trend to stuff Western punctuation marks into titles for decoration (often "!", sometimes ".", etc.). The lead sentence should start "Keijo (stylized Keijo!!!!!!!!) ...". See Gangsta (manga) and the RM on its talk page. There are a few other !-laden Japanese entertainment articles to clean up, but let's start with the grossly excessive cases. See also broader search results; lots without the "!!!" stuff, which is kept primarily by fannish blogs, forums, and other self-published, user-generated, non-independent, and otherwise unreliable sources. We permit MOS:TM exceptions when (and only when) the creators/producers/studio consistently use the stylization and the vast majority of sources also do so (e.g. for Deadmau5 but not for "Ke$ha" or "P!nk").  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  04:18, 19 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support verbatim as per nom. The fact this is just decoration can be seen on cover where 競女 KEIJO in big font, has a decorative line of small !!!!!!!! underneath. (manga) is a much better WP:TITLE disambiguator than "!!!!!!!!". There are dozens if not hundreds of pushily titled decorative examples on en.wp. Most of negligibly notable content. • Support per MOS:TM. Sawol (talk) 09:00, 19 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The sources do not demonstrate what you claim. The exclamation marks are consistently used by all the relevant ones. —Xezbeth (talk) 18:54, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • Except that the news sources link disproves that, instantly.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  18:50, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
      • Not really, most of those are random Finnish people named Keijo. The official website, the publisher, Natalie, ANN, CR, Kotaku etc. all use exclamation marks. —Xezbeth (talk) 20:09, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
        • Just ignore or exclude the Finnish stuff, obviously. And you seem to be making assumptions instead of actually looking: ANN uses mixed style in the same articles and between articles [1] [2] [3] ("Keijo", "Keijo!", "Keijo!!!!!!!!", and "KEIJO!!!!!!!!", notably avoiding the long form in titles/headlines in several cases). Kotaku uses mixed style between articles [4] (with !s), but [5] & [6] (without, and both written later, suggestive of a wise decision to not inflict ridiculous style on their readers). Similar sites without the "!!!!" stuff: [7]. Others used mixed style: [8] ("Keijo" then "Keijo!!!!!", which is just a random number of !s that doesn't match the "real" title). Same with this one [9] ("Keijo" then "Keijo!!!!!!!" which is one short). This one [10] uses "Keijo" then "Keijo!". Reversing the usual trend, this one [11] uses the !s in the headline, but not in the body. Outside the fandom sites: [12] (no !s). Importantly, this piece at Breitbart (politics aside) proves usage is just random, since it directly quotes lots of others writing about the game, and the results are all over the place, including "Keijo", "Keijo!", and "Keijo!!!!!!!!". All together, this demonstrates that the !!!! crap is entirely optional in the eyes of both fandom and non-fandom sources. (This work is too non-notable to have any book coverage; I checked.) PS: Other Western site are also dropping the !s, though I needn't dump a pile of links here for German, Spanish, etc.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  19:43, 24 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support—We do have to draw the line when outside titles are constructed for commercial purposes to be impossible not to stumble over in text. It's inconsiderate to our readers to replicate extreme marketing on WP. Tony (talk) 01:15, 24 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support – Sources are all over on this, including 1, 2, 3, and 5 exclamation marks besides the 8. They seem superfluous decoration. Dicklyon (talk) 01:21, 24 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Jamie Marchi's character in Keijo.

[edit]

I'm conflicted! In Jamie Marchi's anime voice role, she's Nagisa but on the Keijo page, she's someone else so which role is she really playing?! Don't believe me? Look at both pages and see if they match. Please address this as soon as you can. After all, she can't play two characters on the show at the same time! That's ridiculous. Because if you leave it as it is, then I've lost my mind already.

Thank you. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 13:38, 4 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fictional Sport?

[edit]

Is the sport depicted actual fictional, or a fictionalized version of a real sport? A very similar game is used as part of the plot of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers, where the main character Layle has to secretly help one of the girls win. They both stand on a floating platform and try to use their hips and buttocks to knock each other into the water, but not their chests. This game was released 7 years prior to Keijo's original publication. --157.21.14.70 (talk) 15:12, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It also appears as a minigame in Super Galdelic Hour for the PS2, from 2001. --2600:8805:1800:6B00:16D:1670:D6ED:B5B8 (talk) 02:27, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
