Excellent Explanation, Dates

I've only read it quickly, but the explanation of the pendulum is excellent. Only suggestion I have is minor: dates in the "Kater's solution" section. JKeck (talk) 02:15, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Good read, but...

In the section "Repsold–Bessel pendulum" the sentence "Here h1, and h2, are the distances of the two pivots from the pendulum's center of gravity, so h1 + h2 = L,..." is a bit confusing to me. The two pivot points are by definition not the real conjugate pivot points (at least not at all locations on the earth), so the sum of their distances from the CG is not the length from any one of the pivot point to its corresponding center of oscillation, i.e. L as defined in the preceding text.

Am I missing something here?
