The Nekyia is not...

[edit]

...a true katabasis, as Odysseus does not actually go to the Underworld; he contacts its residents, but doesn't make the actual journey in the way that Heracles, Orpheus and Aeneas do. Ifnkovhg (talk) 06:32, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Scope of article

[edit]

Some of these sections seem to violate Wikipedia is not a dictionary, and others should just be new articles (and already are, e.g. katabatic wind). If the psychology definition is really important, it should be in a separate article called Katabasis (psychology). These different meanings don't seem to really have much to do with each other aside from a common linguistic root, but that's not enough argument to make a combined article; Mercury-the-God and Mercury-the-planet have the same linguistic origin, but they have separate articles. Any complaints if I were to trim the article down to just the mythology and religion meaning? SnowFire (talk) 09:02, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
