Per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kara-Tur, this should be merged with Kara-Tur: The Eastern Realms (or Oriental Adventures? It seems the consensus was shifting to merge with KT:TER, so I haven't tagged OA for a merge, feel free to do so if you want). Which direction should the merge happen? Frankly I think this depends on whether Kara-Tur: The Eastern Realms is independently notable (WP:NBOOK?) or not. PS. For all the reasons outlined in the deletion discussion (should I repeat here?) I think Kara-Tur should be merged with Kara-Tur: The Eastern Realms, not Oriental Adventures. The direction should not be too important, as in a proper merge all relevant information should be preserved. For practical reasons I think the end result should be placed at Kara-Tur (Kara-Tur?) with Kara-Tur: The Eastern Realms becoming a redirect: This is just the far more likely search term for anyone interested in the subject, and unsurprisingly there are many more links to Kara-Tur than to Kara-Tur: The Eastern Realms at this time. Merge with Abeir-Toril

[edit]

I know that Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kara-Tur closed with "The result was merge to Kara-Tur: The Eastern Realms." But, the closer went on to say "Merge to whatever article. I don't know what exactly you have all settled on, but, I'll let all of you hash it out elsewhere." One merge destination not mentioned in the AFD, but which seems particularly well-suited to handle content on the region, is Abeir-Toril. I think that since the setting has been described in multiple sourcebooks - first Oriental Adventures, most extensively in Kara-Tur: The Eastern Realms, and to some extent in many other places - it makes less sense to have this article redirect to any of those, than it does to have it redirect to an article about the overall fictional setting that it is part of along with the "main" Forgotten Realms, and I think this is the perfect place to do it. I have moved some of the content from the article on the boxed set that really had nothing to do with the boxed set itself accordingly as a WP:BOLD move, although I invite discussion here from anyone who disagrees. To me, it just feels more "at home" there. 98.32.192.121 (talk) 14:09, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I restored the related products section since those sections are often included in D&D articles & it follows the above discussion (Talk:Kara-Tur#Merge with Kara-Tur: The Eastern Realms). While you didn't propose merging an entire article, the steps in Wikipedia:Merging are a good guide to start a larger discussion on this (such as adding notifications on project pages, etc). Well, OK. Most of that is entirely unrelated to the boxed set itself, which is why I moved it to the Kara-Tur section on Abeir-Toril where it makes more sense to be, and now we have it in two places. 98.32.192.121 (talk) 10:03, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
