My now deceased uncle was a practitioner of Kalarippayattu, and a very talented individual in this field. After his heart failure some two years ago, I was left knowing very little of his life. Recently I found out that he was very enthusiastic about a fighting art known as "kalari" and began to ask my relatives about it. However, most of them knew very little about it. I'd just like to step out for a second and thank you for the creation of this article and the chance to learn a little bit more about a very important relative of mine whom I am told I resemble greatly. Once again, thank you.

This page should be made more clear. It's hard to understand that this is a page about the Kalari complex and the organization of the practicioners of Kalarippayattu. I would BE BOLD but I am not an expert on the topic.

How do some people claim that Kalari is a Malayali Marital martial art

How do some people claim that Kalari is a exclusively a Malayali Marital martial art when Kalari is about 3000-5000 years old [atleast that's what Malaylis themselves say or what is said in National geographic channel.But Malayalam itself was a language that was created in 14 th century after a chaos due to immigrants in Chera Nadu.Moreover in National Geographic Channel that Kalari said that Kalari is practiced since Sangam era.Malayalam and Malayalese came into existence only after 14th century.But Sangam era mentioned in Tamil literature 2000 years old.Malayalis may practice and preserve Kalari but it's not an art created by them but by Tamils.Someone said that it was not practiced by Chera Kings [Tamil Kings] but by his warriors.It's funny to see someone saying that some great kings didn't knew the art that a normal warrior under him was knowing (arun1paladin117.193.192.15 (talk) 21:27, 9 November 2009 (UTC)0

Kalari is one of many Tamizhar/Dravidian Martial arts, the term Southern Kalari is a recent fabrication of the Kerala Kalaripiyattu association and an attempt to make kalari seem like an umbrella martial art which is not. Kalari is a martial art performed traditionally by Nayars/Nairs caste/race and hence the origin is to be traced towards them. Context
