The song "The War Is Over"

[edit]

I removed the comments regarding the song "The War Is Over" being about the war in Iraq. It isn't. Sarah Brightman has stated in interviews that the song does not address the conflict and is not political.

As seen in the interview here:

"This album, Harem, has nothing to do with the political situation in Iraq at all...It was just coincidental that all this happened. "The War Is Over Now" on the album was in fact originally written as a love song." - Sarah Brightman

I think I trust her opinion on the song. Crystallina 02:40, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Here are the lyrics to the song, as shown on Sarah Brightman's official site:
My statues are falling
Like feathers of snow
Their voices are calling
In a whispering world
Waiting for the morning glow
Heaven is calling
From a rainy shore
Counting wounded lights falling
Into their dreams
Still searching for an open door
In morning dew
A glorious scene came through
Like war is over now
I feel I'm coming home again
Pure moments of thought
In the meaning of love
This war is over now
I feel I'm coming home again
An arrow of freedom
Is piercing my heart
Breaking chains of emotion
Give a moment to pray
For lost innocence to find it's way
Fields of sensation
A cry in the dark
Hope is on the horizon
With a reason to stay
And living for a brand new day
Salaam Allah alad donia alal'insaan {salute God and bless life and humans}
Ah ah oh ah
Mata nahia behob ou aman {When will we live in love and safety}
Salaam Allah, Salaam Allah {salute God, salute God}
Salaam Allah alad donia alal'insaan {salute God and bless life and humans}
In morning dew
A glorious scene came through
Like war is over now
I feel I'm coming home again
Pure moments of thought
In the meaning of love
This war is over now
I feel I'm coming home again to you

Personally, I hardly think it's political in any way. War has been used metaphorically to express to a difficult journey, while the reference to God (Allah) is about the meaning of life and love.Jaimebienlesfruits 13:27, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, but you still on nothing of this song. It was NOT only a love song. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.18.152.147 (talk) 12:29, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Project Moved

[edit]

The musician name is incorrect so i moved it to Kathem Al Saher.It much better than kazem, as we all know that the name kazem sounds like "Egyption" way, not being racist, but we have to make things right not biased. I also mentioned at the very first top that some spelled it with kazem. Thanks SeMiTiC

Propaganda tool?

[edit]

Someone wrote that he was used as a propaganda tool for Saddam Hussein and his sons. I removed this, since it lacked sources or evidence. Jaimebienlesfruits 00:29, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article improvement

[edit]

i think the article needs some urgent improvement, for its language mainly (copyediting is required) therefore i will start that right now. You can help if you want to; after all you do not need to know about the topic to copyedit it. Λua∫Wise -Talk- 16:54, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think that now, we can safely say that the article will not need any major copyediting and perhaps we can remove the tag now.

Name and Birthdate

[edit]

1.) There is a 3-year discrepancy between his birthdate in the article and in the infobox, and I don't know which is accurate.

2.) On his album covers his name is spelled "Kadim Al Sahir", so I don't see why the article should be listed under anything different, with that listed as "also".

Rychach (talk) 04:14, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

With relation to point number one; there is also about 300 kelometer discrepancy!; in the first pharagraph of the Article it says he was born in Samarra in 1957, The biography section states he was born in Mousil in 1961. --Maha Odeh (talk) 10:16, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually there are many albums and singles that do not use Kadim Al Sahir. Examples https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/File:Hafiat_Al-Kadamain_Kathem.jpg where it is Kazim al Saher, also at https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/habibati-wal-matar/id161514100 , https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/salamtak-min-el-ah/id161515241 where it is Kazim Al Saher , https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/latisideh-lawaah/id421089302 where it is Kadem Al Sahir, https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/fy-mdrst-alhb/id680576743 where it is Kazem El Saher and in https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/the-impossible-love/id44235630 as Kazem al Saher and many more. So his album covers do not exclusively use his name as "Kadim Al Sahir" although some do. If you are well aware of Arabic and its transliterations, you know both Kadim and Al-Sahir are so far from his Arabic name as can be. werldwayd (talk) 22:49, 9 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The image Image:Kathem Ila Tilmitha.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

{{movereq|Kazem Al Saher}}

Kathem Al SaherKazem Al Saher — The existing Romanization of the name is haphazard. FrancescoMazzucotelli (talk) 19:19, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose; The one with "th" reflects the correct pronunciation, while the one with "z" is the more -let's say- informal colloquial way.
Cheers mate!

Excuse me, in what language do you pronounce ظ as "th"?
The Ẓāʼ sound is an emphatic /z/ or /ð/, pronounced with the center of the tongue depressed. Regional pronunciations vary; it may sound like an emphatic counterpart of either ز or ذ.
It sounds either like "z" or "dh".
Besides, the translitteration of Ẓāʾ is
0638 ظ ẓāʼ Y z̧ ẓ ẓ Z ẓ đ̣ Z /ðˁ/ Z .z Z/z/6'
Finally, I think that "Kazem" is more common usage than "Kathem". Cheers, --FrancescoMazzucotelli (talk) 16:38, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Al Saher / Al Sahir

[edit]

I can find both in the article at a time. This is not really a good thing. Either we should use "Al Saher" in the WHOLE article, or "Al Sahir" but not mix them together. -andy 217.50.43.17 (talk) 18:19, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This article is terribly written. Please someone who is a native speaker of English fix it. 72.152.138.209 (talk) 15:37, 3 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It should be "Kazim El Sahir". Why?.., because the letter "ظ" in Arabic meets the letter "Z" in this type of actions. Also, the letter "E" should be "I" because this letter has a short pronunciation like the "Kasra" in the Arabic language. "Al" should be "El" because when you read this word in Arabic you will pronounce it like there is no sound before it. Source(s): I'm on highly knowledge of the pronunciations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.170.211.130 (talk) 14:26, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kadim Al-SaherKadim Al Sahir – Per the artist's official accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and his profiles on music platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. The suggested title is obviously his common name. Keivan.fTalk 04:47, 27 September 2019 (UTC) --Relisting. Andrewa (talk) 17:32, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
