Infobox fields
[edit]There's some content in the infobox that in my opinion is verging into cruft, so I want to start a discussion here about trying to establish a consensus for exactly what should be included and excluded from the infobox. I'm specifically eyeing the following fields:
- Genres: At its most expansive, this field listed hip hop, underground hip hop, East Coast hip hop, abstract hip hop, and conscious hip hop. In my opinion, only underground hip hop and East Coast hip hop are necessary here. "Hip hop" alone is redundant because every other listed genre is a hip hop subgenre; "abstract hip hop" and "conscious hip hop" are specific enough that I don't think they merit mention unless the article has references explicitly showing Ka's music described as such.
- Occupations: At its most expansive, this field listed rapper, record producer, songwriter, lyricist, film director, and cinematographer. I don't think this field needs to be included at all, but I'm willing to concede "rapper" and "record producer" (though perhaps the latter should pipe to hip hop production instead?). "Songwriter" and "lyricist" feel redundant; rappers writing their own lyrics is widespread and not generally noteworthy. "Film director" and "cinematographer" are unsuitable because Ka's notability doesn't stem from directing music videos; they shouldn't be included unless reliable sources characterize him as such.
- Discography: Not useful to link unless the discography has its own standalone article.
If anyone disagrees with these stances, let's talk it out here before reincorporating any disputed fields into the article. ModernDayTrilobite (talk • contribs) 21:21, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
