Fair use rationale for Image:KMEZ-FM.gif
[edit]Image:KMEZ-FM.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Requested move
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the proposal was Move Anthony Appleyard (talk)
KMEZ → KKND — creating discussion section —Andrewa (talk) 16:43, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
From WP:RM:
This station flipped callsign from KMEZ to KKND by it's owner. KKND became KXOS with callsign change as of May 29,2008. Cut and paste was made on KKND page as article existed and now reflects current location Mjr346 (talk) 01:32, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Survey
[edit]- Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with
*'''Support'''
or*'''Oppose'''
, then sign your comment with~~~~
. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's naming conventions.
- Oppose for now. We need to work out how best to describe both the current state, and the history, of these three closely related stations. Not convinced that this move will help, instead it may just complicate matters, see discussion below. Happy to be proved wrong. Andrewa (talk) 17:03, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Any additional comments:
- Hmmmm, lots going on here... the original versions of these two articles
- http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=KMEZ&oldid=21853088
- http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=KKND&oldid=21857311
- give different frequencies and were created at the same time, so presumably there were once two stations. The histories of the two articles probably both need to be preserved, as do both talk pages.
- KKND#History tells a bit of this story, but there's still a lot left out. KXOS is also involved.
- Suggest that the first thing to do is to expand and clarify the history section. Andrewa (talk) 17:00, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
- FYI:
- The station on 102.9 had the callsign of KMEZ (facility ID 12157) and had the "Old School 102.9" format and monkier. 106.7 (FCC facility ID 58395) had the callsign of KKND for roughly 11 1/2 years for both alternative rock and a format switch after Hurricane Katrina to a country music format. The 106.7 frequency had low ratings all of it's life as the country music format, plus as documentation showed that I posted which came from a federal government site, the current tower owner of where KMEZ (12157) currently is, wants them off the tower by September 1st,2008.
- Since KKND (58395) had the best coverage and lowest ratings of the ownership cluster, an internal decision was made cutting the country music format completely for a relay of KMEZ (12157) with the owners changing the callsigns on both stations about a week after the flip to the current KXOS (58395) and giving the 102.9 signal the former's callsign of KKND (putting the callsign of KKND on FCC ID 12157).
- The decision was made as KMEZ (12157) has the best ratings out of the owners stations in listenership in the New Orleans area and apparently the owners didn't want to loose these listeners.
- Currently no more is known publicly on the fate of the KKND (12157) signal as the FCC accepted for filing a move to a new tower, but without FCC final grant in the US, A radio station is powerless and if the action doesn't happen fast enough. KKND (12157) may be forced off the air for a time.
- I am a fairly newer user to the wikipedia group and made a mistake in the flipping of the articles as I cut and pasted which apparently after the fact I found was frowned upon.
- However it is hard since the callsign was already in the Wikipedia system. and I flipped the callsign to agree with the Facility ID they were currently assigned to.

- Also please advise on what you wish to show in the histories as I thought I had showed the changeovers accurately enough on those two articles. Thanks
Arbitrary Section Break
[edit]- Based on what I can read from the FCC database:
- KMEZ - not currently a licensed station
- KXOS - currently 106.7 FM (#58395) and formerly KKND since 1996
- KKND - currently 102.9 FM (#12157) and formerly KMEZ since 1991
- KMEZ should redirect to KKND
- KXOS should be about the current station and have the history of KKND up until the transistion (i.e. wiki history of KKND through this revision)
- KKND should be about the current station and have the history of KMEZ up until the transistion (i.e. wiki history of KMEZ through this revision)
- Unless I'm missing something, that should be the solution. JPG-GR (talk) 03:16, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
- Correction (as per message to me from User:JPG-GR): KXOS now has no licence, and KMEZ is now the current station, so delete KMEZ (which after the above moves was only redirects) and move KXOS to KMEZ. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:04, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
