Fair use rationale for Image:Ktvy.jpg
[edit]Image:Ktvy.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:05, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Gaylord's death at the end of first section
[edit]You can't claim that E.K. Gaylord died "of natural causes" at such an old age. I've seen some news articles regarding his death by a heart attack. --TheLennyGriffinFan1994 (talk) 01:58, 14 September 2020 (UTC)

Programming
[edit]Can I add programming to the article? --Universal1314 (talk) 4:45, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Universal1314: The reason it's not there is that a station's inventory of syndicated shows generally isn't talked about in reliable sources. Like, I can't cite that paragraph. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 17:16, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

- Add WP:ALT text to every image.
- Remove the hyphen between "regularly-scheduled".
- "video tape" should be written as one word.
- Hrmm, we have Video tape recorder but Videotape.

- Hrmm, we have Video tape recorder but Videotape.
- "a organ donor" → "an organ donor"
- "17 year run" → "17-year run"
- "on January 2015" → "in January 2015"
- "entered into an agreement" → "agreed"
- "The station's digital signal remained on its pre-transition UHF channel 27, using PSIP to display KFOR-TV's virtual channel as 4 on digital television receivers." – source?
- "holds a distinction" – shouldn't it be "holds the distinction"?
- "which allowed" → "that allowed"
- "a October 2000 storm" → "an October 2000 storm"
- Add a WP:DATECOMMA after "May 20, 2013".
- "in 1992 to 1995" → "from 1992 to 1995"
- A lot of #Notable_on-air_staff is unsourced.

Did you know nomination
[edit]- The following is an archived discussion of the DYK nomination of the article below. Please do not modify this page. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as this nomination's talk page, the article's talk page or Wikipedia talk:Did you know), unless there is consensus to re-open the discussion at this page. No further edits should be made to this page.

- ... that in 1952, meteorologist Harry Volkman delivered the first on-air tornado warning on Oklahoma City's WKY-TV, in defiance of a federal ban on the practice? Source: The Daily Herald The Daily Oklahoman
- ALT1:... that Buck Owens was forced to end production of a popular country-variety show on Oklahoma City's WKY-TV because it became too similar to his other popular variety show Hee Haw? Source: The Bakersfield Californian
- ALT2:... that reporter Frank McGee was known as "Mack Rogers" at Oklahoma City's WKY-TV due to station policy assigning air names which could be retained as intellectual property? Source: The Allen Advocate Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters
- Comment: When we say we overhauled this article, we mean it. This was a massive rewrite to make the article both encyclopedic in tone and reflecting the history the station has had... we wound up removing 2,000 words but simultaneously adding a lot more content and refs.
Improved to Good Article status by Nathan Obral (talk) and Sammi Brie (talk). Nominated by Nathan Obral (talk) at 03:48, 9 August 2021 (UTC).
General: Article is new enough and long enough |
---|
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems |
---|
|
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation |
---|
|
Image: Image is freely licensed, used in the article, and clear at 100px. |

QPQ: None required. |
Overall: The article is new and long (though no longer a wall of text it used to be, thank you very much), and much more pleasurable than before you started expansion. Sourcing is good, no neutrality issues detected. Earwig, after "thinking" for about 10-15 minutes trying to analyse the sources (a ton of them), has not detected any plagiarism. The hook is cited and the ALT0 is definitely the winner among the three. Image is OK. QPQ is not yet needed, but be reminded that you are running out of credits (you will have used up 3 credits by the time the review is closed; starting from 5, you will have provide proof of QPQ). Overall, I am happy to state that the article has Passed the DYK review. Personally, after expanding the lead of the article, I'd set sights for an FA nomination. Szmenderowiecki (talk) 15:36, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
- Szmenderowiecki: I did want to let you know that I had reviewed the DYK nom for Hurricane Pali as a QPQ prior to submitting this nomination, but accidentally forgot to include it. Thank you so much for the kind words and the encouragement. :) Nathan Obral • he/him • t • c • 18:50, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
