Shutdown likely in 2024 - due to lack of student interest?

KEWU's shutdown appears imminent. The cited cause, a lack of student interest, most likely is related to the station's format. Student interest in jazz is marginal, whereas nearly all viable college stations air far more age and taste appropriate formats such as Variety, Alternative, CHR, etc. Why this hasn't occurred to the administration, faculty, or students is a mystery, but it seems a shame a university would give up a license without looking for alternatives.
