Merger proposal

[edit]

Although this is the tallest structure in the state, there is likely never to be any lengthy encyclopaedic information written and published about this tower, like many other similar structures. Ohconfucius 07:53, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Conflation of old and new towers

[edit]

Most of the references are to the previous KDLT-TV tower, which is 1500' tall and was used for analog broadcasts. That tower is no longer used, but the newer 1999' tower is still used for digital broadcasts. Extensive editing and reorganization should be done to distinguish between the two towers. Lukpac , the article has sources from 2008, 2015 and 2017. The 2008 source says 2000'. The 2015 and 2017 sources say 1500'. The FCC database says 1999' (609 meters) with the tower built in 1998. It's kind of perplexing. -- GreenC 19:22, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Are you saying there are TWO towers and the the 1999' tower referenced in the FCC database is different from the 1500' tower given in the 2015 and 2017 sources? -- GreenC 19:31, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, there are two towers. The newer ("digital") 1999' tower built in 1998 and the older ("analog") 1500' (actually 1565') tower built in 1976. The old tower is about 42 miles WNW of the new tower, south of Salem, SD at 43°37'56.0" N 097°22'25.0" W. Lukpac (talk) 19:38, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
