KDD Not KDDI

[edit]

KDDI is not the company formerly known as KDD. KDDI is a merger of three companies, one of which was KDD.

KDD stands for Kokusai Denshin Denwa

It once operated all of Japan's international telephone services, and practically every household and business in Japan was a subscriber, along with an NTT subscription which operated domestic calling.

Because KDD was an important player in Japan's economic development and a feature in every consumer's experience, KDD deserves its own article.

KDD was Japan's communication link with the world, and smart phone services such as au only appeared very recently. Wikipedia should not lose itself in a millennial memory hole, but make sure its articles are historically accurate.
