Rename article from "Kaal" to "Kala".
[edit]I'm not sure why this article is named "Kaal" when everywhere on the page it says "Kala". Maybe it was a typo? Consider renaming it to "Kala". As far as I have seen, the Sanskrit word for time, at least material time, is "kala". Jroberson108 (talk) 04:11, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Jroberson108 "Kaal" is a transliteration of काल as it is pronounced in modern Hindi, but the same Devanagari spelling is pronounced "kaala" in Sanskrit. See https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/%E0%A4%95%E0%A4%BE%E0%A4%B2 . (This default vowel at the ends of words is dropped from most modern languages derived from Sanskrit.)
- That perhaps explains why "kaal" was used, but perhaps the Sanskrit version is more appropriate, given the subject? (Note: I'm not an expert; I'm early in the process of learning Hindi myself.) Jim Pivarski (talk) 02:52, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
